Stance on macros post 3.0.2

I'm a slight bit curios now that the patch has come out and glyph are now in use. Prior, the community here at TS seemed a bit divided on the use of macros as a whole I think. I admit early on before I discovered TS, I used quite a few. Then once I got a little knowledge I went away from them completely(well atleast tanking wise). I know I've been seeing alot of people talking about how great the Revenge/Heroic Strike one is. Also the one that Cider had posted for the trinkets. So my question is, has the view on the use of them changed post-patch? And which ones would you recommend and in the case of the Rev/HS is that only situational when S&B proc's?

Either way I was thinking maybe it might not be a bad idea to get a sticky of them and explain there uses and associated glyph's?

Thanks for your input.

I think most of the disdain for macros come mostly from ones that are dubbed "lazy tank" macros where peeps will try to make 1 button that'll use all of their abilities and whatnot. Just as a tank should take control of the situation, so too must he take control of himself!

It can be argued that macros are more of a preference, but let's be honest, with the amount of abilities and such increasing, we'd eventually need a third hand to use everything! That, my friend, is where macros come in handy (at least for me.)

One that I've found was something like...

#show Gnomeregan Auto-blocker 600
/use Gnomeregan Auto-blocker 600
/cast Shield Slam

Maybe not exactly right, but something like that. Basically what I like to do is think to myself "ok, with how I have everything laid out, which of my most used abilities would I like to combine/tweak/marthastewart that'll make them more effective, whilst still allowing fine control, taking into account GCD, etc."

Tanking macro's either help you do abilities more efficiently / effectively then you would otherwise be able to or try to pick abilities for you to use.

Things like trinket use on SS and Rev/HS fall into the first category and are a good idea as they can potentially improve your performance. Things like trying to have a one button tanking rotation macro fall into the second category and in most (all?) cases wont work anyway, but if they did would be not that great as they reduce the control you have over your tanking imo.
