Eh, I have always used a buttload of mods but never auto updated. I like the WowAce site, I just make a list and go shopping. Its time consuming but meh.

So, the auto updater is going away....what about the site its self? Can I still go grab fresh versions at Wow Ace or is that dead now too?
old mods still hosted never anything new from what i understand, although i dont see why you would waste it on mods that are going poof today so im asuming that its done after 3.0 hits.

it seems everthing that was on wowace is now on curse.
also jwowupdater have a news version which supports the news curse & wowinterface, wowinterface have a own client but you need a account for it.
both have/are a java-clients and so platform indipendent. the wowinterface client is a little bit more work than you used to have as you have to confirm every download. you also have to manually add the ID of the addons by hand but it shouldn't take to much time.
not sure if i will stick with jwow or the wowinterface client.

The Curse Client does have all the WowAce addons but you need to configure it correctly to take advantage of the most up to date versions. I’ve made a quick guide to help people download and set up the Curse Client to use the newest addons.

So from the top here we go:

1) Download the client here: Curse

2) After you've installed the client if it didn’t already find your current addons you may need to tell the client where your World of Warcraft directory is. You can do this by pressing Alt-W and browsing and selecting the World of Warcraft directory.

3) When you first install the Curse Client it's configured to download the release version of the addon. If you want the Alpha or Beta version, the ones you were using on Wowace, then you need to change the configuration by doing the following:
a. Click on the configuration tab
b. Click on Addon Settings
c. Click on Global Release Settings
d. Set to Alpha

You’re now set to get the latest version of your addons. At this point I usually exit and restart the Curse Client to make sure the settings have taken effect.

If you have any questions just post here and I’ll do my best to help out.

I've been using WOWMatrix for a while now. It's really the only option for auto-updating your addons on a Mac. It works well, though I've noticed that ACE mod updates have been coming in batches lately.
The Curse Client should be supporting Macs in the near future. My biggest gripe about WoWMatrix is that it leeches bandwidth from other websites and does not respect the Addon authors copyrights.
