So, what will work in 3.0/Wrath?

Or what will break? And good sites (or insight) ahead of time so I can plan on what to do when the patch rolls in on the 14th?

Addon authors have had beta access for a long time, and the UI changes went in early in the beta process without much change. Every major addon is already good to go, or will be. The hard part is going to be getting stuff downloaded in the mass rush.

Changes to the addon interfaces will break all kinds of addons but the ones that that will be pretty much guaranteed to break with 3.0 are:
- Buffs
- Mount/Companion
- Threat

It'd be a good idea to download whatever WLK versions of your addons you can find now into a folder off to the side somewhere and then just copy over when 3.0 drops. That way you'll only need to actually download the bare minimum on patch day. Some authors are still working *cough* and you won't be able to do that, but the fewer you need to try and get on patch day, the less cursing you'll be doing.

I highly recommend grabbing the PTR client and building your UI there, even if you don't want to do anything else. Just copy all addons over, and get updated WotLK versions of the ones that break.

I had 86 errors upon logging in, and after fiddling around, have a working UI that's patch and expansion ready. Wowinterface has a lot of Wrath-ready addons, in their own section.

anything that you can update with WoWAceUpdater is good also - quite a few will simply update and run just fine.

WoWAceUpdater doesn't work anymore. WoWAce recently changed their back-end to store their addons differently. Actually, it's been merged with Curse's new system, CurseForge. Too my knowledge, no updater works for either site except the new CurseClient.

WoWAceUpdater may not give you any errors, but it hasn't been updating properly for days and to my knowledge no one is planning on updating it.
