Warrior Some Prot War Questions

Greetings.

Please keep in mind I only do 10 man content.

I've been contemplating going Prot/Prot as my two specs (currently Prot/Arms).

I currently employ a very generic tanking spec that consists of your run of the mill points spending, e.g. 15/3/X. I was considering going full on "boss tanking" mode, putting 5/10/X or so, picking up 5/5 Demo, 5/5 TClap and minimize all cooldowns on my Shield Wall and Last Stand by picking up any talents and glyphs that would support them. Has anyone attempted this much specialization before, for maximum cooldown use coupled with maximum debuffs for a single target? My threat would suffer, obviously, but I'm not having issues with threat at the moment, even when I pug 25 man content.

Additionally, I've been contemplating gems that are not just Solid Majestic. I know, blasphemy right? In situations where the socket bonus is +Stamina, I've decided to forgo the 3-6 extra stamina from a Solid Majestic, to match the socket bonus and attempt to pick up some more Expertise, Hit Rating, Dodge, or Parry (depending on what I feel like at the time). Is effective health really everything right now? I would imagine not, but the verdict may be otherwise. To me it would seem like you would need to maintain close-to-max Expertise and Hit so that you do not suffer TPS problems, and then throw on maximum stamina (or sprinkle in some Parry here and there). ~500-800 health really shouldn't matter THAT much all things considered, especially if my TPS and/or Avoidance is raised because of the hand-off.

(Note: If the socket bonuses are not +Stamina related, I probably would forgo the bonus in lieu of a Majestic Zircon.)

Also I'm thinking of using the +Armor trinket from ICC once it drops instead of just two +Stamina for fights that involve a boss swinging at me doing physical damage. (Magical damage based bosses would better be suited for maximum EH.) Anyone else put thought into this as well?

Regards,
-Varagar

Paladin Feeling Squishy

Hey all, been a long time TankSpot reader and finally decided to start posting.

I've been a prot pally for quite a while and I lean towards old school stats such as the classic 102.4% avoidance and whatnot, even though I know it's not really needed anymore. I'm having issues with the, seemingly, big focus on stamina stacking once you hit def cap. I, personally, feel so very squishy even when I'm sporting 48k hp raid buffed.

Armory - The World of Warcraft Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Moonrunner&n=Eldwynn)

Is there any advice for how I can improve gear/spec whatever? I recently changed spec to what is showing in the Armory there but as a prot pally I'm not seeing much of a use for Divine Sacrifice, though the buff from Divine Guardian is nice.

I have the Black Heart trinket in there because I feel the armor proc gives me more then just adding the other Brewfest trinket till I get scarabs from ToC25. I also have avoidance focused trinkets, though with the focus seemingly on stamina stacking, I'm not sure if I should be using them:
[Fervor of the Frostborn (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=47727)]
[Purified Onyxia Blood Talisman] - Purified Onyxia Blood Talisman - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=49487)

Our guild is currently on Anub in 25 ToC and are starting to move on ToGC10. Any help on where I may improve some things gear/spec/whatever would be greatly appreciated.

Off Topic Warlock DPS issues!

Okay, so yeah, yeah, I know that Warlocks and pure DPS classes are not the main focus here, but people are helpful so I'll see if anyone has anything to offer. I feel silly posting this thread, but I'm scratching my head.

My Warlock's Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Icecrown&n=Lalia)
Quick rundown of stats (without self buffs)
Spellpower: 2094
Crit: 23.49%
Haste: 359
Intellect: 1007
Spirit: 670

My gear is not the most fantastic gear out there, and is sort of patchy since this is an alt that I've been trying to get up there. However, in a 25 man raid with self buffs and plenty of raid buffs (I'm fairly certain just about everything I can get) + Flask of the Frost Wyrm, I only barely put out 5k dps and that's only because I was lucky enough to not get fire.

My Priority system is as such:
CoD
Immo
Conflag
Chaos Bolt
Incin

Because I don't use the Life Tap glyph (I have replenishment) I don't Life Tap until I get under 10k mana, then I usually Life Tap once, burn, and hit it again when I get low. This allows me to keep running my priority rotation with as little interruption as possible. I try to pop my cooldowns when I can, use a haste pot, and we had heroism on the fight.

Given my gear, I feel that I should be pulling about 6k, maybe a little higher, in a fight where I stand around. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and I'd love if someone could give me some tips to get me closer to the DPS I should be doing.

On a side note, on 10 man Gormok I only pulled out 2.4k dps. Granted I dont have the buffs that I did, and caster dps is tough on Gormok, but I feel like I should still be pulling out a much higher dps. On fights with lots of movement or target switching I find my DPS drops a lot more significantly than other DPS classes. I don't know if this is a Warlock issue (I have very little burst) or if I'm doing something wrong that I can improve upon. All I try to do is keep up my priorities and run out of fire, switch targets or do whatever I need to in the fight.

Ok, everyone knows that paladins make the best add tanks...at least that's what I keep getting told.

I, however, am not so great at it. Part of it is movement, camera spinning gives me vertigo. Part of it is my computer is old and clunky. I can't do anything about getting ill trying to chase adds, I can't replace the computer unless I win the lottery....so, are there any tips for either not having to spin myself dizzy (Jaraxxus comes to mind)?

I hate tanking H:VH for the same reason...constant looking for portals makes me feel icky.

Warrior Low DPS - Regemming needed??

I am not sure where to go from here. I have 32.23% ArP from gear and from what I've read that is when I should start gemming for more ArP. So I get +20 ArP gems and put them almost everywhere. My problem is that I am having a hard time averaging 3.5k DPS in 25 ToC. I am new to the game so the keybindings are still new to me (I mean they are not always automatic). When I hit the heroic training dummy I can rarely get over 3k dps. My rotation that I try to maintain is Rend > MS > Overpower when available > Execute when available and HS when i have enough rage. I use Bladestorm whenever it is not on CD and I use Cleave when attacking more than 1 target.

My question is my gear gemmed right and if not should i regem back to Str gems or do I just need to work on rotation more.

Help please somebody anybody,

I am new to this so if i am doing something wrong please tell me. This will most likely be long winded but i want to get as much advice as i can.

I am the only resto druid in the guild and relay the only raiding druid.

I am in a 10 man raiding guild. My healing gets the job done but its not quite enough. I feel as though i am not doing enough for my guild. And i get stressed out of my mind at times. i feel that i am not doing enough which in turn stresses the MT who is also the raid leader. who is always sitting beside me while raiding. which can be bad because we can wipe is he is stressing because i am stressed. I have only been playing for over a year and i started playing wow because my partners guild needed a reliable healer.

I am well geared i have my 4 set tear 9 and a non-set helm of equal rating. i have the moonshadow armguards(245), polished dragonslayer's signet (245 ring), band of the invoker(245 ring), boots of the pertified forest(219), belt of the winters solistice (232), blinding light (232), spark of hope (219) getting the talisman of resurgence, i also have the wail of the Val'kyr(245).

Now that you all know what gear i have, here are some stats for you 2383 is my bonus healing is at self buffed. mana regen is 738 non-combat and 414 in-combat. haste is at 449 that is down from my 700+ before i re-gemed to get more SP.

-Was that the right thing to do?
-what glyphs do i need?
-what gems are good?
-spellpower or intellect which one or is there a healthy mix?
-what is a good group make-up for me to be in for the guild to get the most out of it?

i think that all :) any help would be great.

Hi Guys,

*Char:* Martial *Realm:*EU Stormrage

As a relatively new Tank i've been tryin to gear up (as you can see, long way to go yet but getting there). I've been slamming Stam gems into my gear but tryin not to become a Stam junkie so have used a fair bit few Agi gems/enchants as well.

The issue i've got (and i'm sure my Bear Brethren have been thru the same thing) is now i'm pretty low on attack power and crit resulting in my being able to take a great amount of damage but sometimes having to work hard to keep aggro. Whats a good balance?

I know it takes time out to reply to a thread like this so thanks in advance to anyone who replies

P.S. to Ciderhelm and the team
I LOVE THIS SITE! thanks for putting in the work for making this an incredible research tool for every guildie who likes to raid (and ofc us tanks /flex :D)

Hey everyone on Tankspot.

Just thought it was about time to post my "normal" boss tanking gear.

The World of Warcraft Armory (http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Hellscream&n=Haio)
This is the set i use 95% of the time MT'ing bosses etc, what i was interested in is. What people think should i get the 9.3 Chest (to keep 4 set) and take the Ony 25 helm or just leave the 4 set out.

I think my block etc is a little low but i value Hit and Expertise levels more than it right now.
I have the cape from 25 ToC second boss also but am using "The Cape of the Makers" to keep my hit up around 180.

So just asking for peoples veaws and what they think i should aim for in a total stats over look in Dodge, Parry, Hit etc etc.

Thank you in advance for any helpfull comments :).

Warrior TOCR 10 NormalBeasts of Northrend Destroying me through Massive Heals

Hello, longtime lurker, but a recent traumatizing event in Trial of the Crusader 10 man normal version convinced me to seek the advice of my betters, so here I go.

We recently have decided that our dps is solid enough to try the ToCr10 normal modes. I am a protection warrior and fairly well geared from mostly welfare epic badge gear, so it was thought that we should be able to handle things nicely.

Before I continue, my armory:

The World of Warcraft Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=The+Venture+Co&n=Kuraudo)

Our offtank's:

The World of Warcraft Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=The+Venture+Co&n=Usarkar)

Usarkar (the offtank) and I decided that 3 stacks of impale was a good time to go ahead and make the switch so long as impale had worn off of the other tank.

We went with that plan and Gormok was being burned down incredibly fast, but out of nowhere it appeared as if Gormok had one shot me when I taunted him back off of the offtank.

Looking at the combat log, I saw 3 melee hits in a row with no heals in between, so I assumed it was a fluke. Usarkar, our offtank, proceeded to take the fight from there and then tank both jormungarr until he was taken down.

This process repeated as we tried different healing setups. Finally, during the last attempt of the night, our offtank Usarkar proceeded to tank Gormok through 6 stacks of impale, kill him over a long period, and then finish off both Jormungarr while I was eating coliseum pavement.

I am not sure how incredible or non incredible it is for one tank to take both worms, but I was astonished that not only did it work, but if not for a fluke on icehowl where someone dc'd during his charge, we would have cleared the encounter.

I would love advice on what I should be doing to survive this, but after that massive embarrassment I think I'll need more advice on how to convince my guild to continue letting me tank at all.

My first course of action will be to replace all my expertise enchants and gems with stamina, make no mistake. I could probably stand to add more avoidance as well, but please help me with this difficult situation. I know that warriors are spiky, but that was far too spiky to be normal.

Thank you for your time!

Deathknight The pull on HM anub.

I am having threat issues on the beginning pull of HM anub. It causes annoying deaths every once in a while.

Necessary Information:

Armory - The World of Warcraft Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kil%27jaeden&n=Tayschren)

Video of the pull - YouTube - on the pull
Rotation is pretty standard. I start off with a DG due to the problem with people pulling off of me.

Any explanation as to why I am starting out with such low numbers? It isn't preventing us from actually downing the boss, its just terrible to lose a person so early on when we are going for 45 attempts.

Thanks,

I normally tank and so i have some really crappy dps gear and i have been asked to dps a lot recently for the guild. I was luck to get 4 upgrades last night from 219 gear to some 245 and 232 gear so i don't know how much my dps will be now but I was only doing an avg of like 3k dps in 25 toc last night that seems really low since all the other dps were doing 4k to 6k dps. Here is my armory link.

Armory

fury vs arms from all the things I looked at the dps of the to specs are pretty similar with arms being slightly higher on single target and fury being better on groups but there close which one is the most beneficial to the rest of the raid?

arp? should i be gemming arp over str

Warrior Issues with damage taken and threat

Armory Link: Ahappyelf (http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aerie+Peak&n=Ahappyelf)

My warrior has long been my most important char and was by far my best but more and more I am finding that I can't cope in situations I used to. So much so that I now spend most my time healing since sadly I seem to be better at it. I would however like to "fix" my warrior since somehow I broke her.

I currently have a DW build and mostly this meant I don't have aggro issues. I can still out aggro most tanks without cheating with any taunts or such (its a game I play in easy raid bosses - yes i do tell the other tank before). But I find I take lots and lots of damage. For instance I have come to expect my own death on the first boss in ToC10 and patiently await my combat ress. I am always bottom of the DPS meter and justify this to myself by reminding myself I wasn't invited to DPS.

I am considering changing to a survival (deep protection - whatever you want to call it) tank instead but am concerned that since my DPS is low anyway that I'm going to have threat issues. I was hoping that someone could give me a quick comparison between the two specs so that maybe I could be more informed with my choice.

I am also hoping that anyone who sees and major issues with my spec/gear/gemming that you could help me out and tell me. I would really like to start enjoying my warrior again.

Thanks,
Happy :)

Warrior Halp!! Arms/Fury warrior needs advice!

Was asking for help at another site and they recommended you guys. :)

As Arms I constantly do a nauseating 3.5k-4.5k dps in 25 man ToC (regular, not Heroic) while the many DKs and ret pallies in my guild are pulling over 6k regularly. I'm the only dps warrior and I'm positive I could be doing more dps!! I have been all over the web trying to figure out what I am doing wrong but to no avail.

The World of Warcraft Armory (http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Alexstrasza&n=Nimthiriel)

My rotation:
Rend - MS - Overpower when procs - Ex when procs - Slam

I've heard you should replace Slam with Heroic Strike if you have more than 75 rage but I have yet to try that out (am trying to do so today). Also heard to throw in a MS before Execute when Sudden Death procs and you have 40 or more rage but haven't tried it. Are these good for the rotation?

Problems I am aware of in my Arms spec:
1. I know am over expertise cap but it's because of my weapon; I am after Justicebringer so I can change to Poleaxe specialization but the stupid thing just won't drop for me. I also have Reckoning in the bank - would that be a better choice than what I have?
2. I am over hit cap due to gear. I could change out Mark of Supremacy for my ol' Mirror of Truth, which would put me slightly under hit cap, but is there something else I could do?

Is there a better Arms spec? What can I do to help my gear? My rotation?

...

Now here's another question completely. My other spec is Fury. I can pull about 4k - 4.5k on practice dummies with my Fury spec but while raid buffed I barely do 3.5k. O_o This mystifies me.

My Fury rotation:
WW (proc) - BT(proc) - Slam (proc) - HS Spam

I wish I could post my Armory twice but I can't so here are my stats from my Character Info while in Fury spec, Berserker Stance. It's the same gear plus Reckoning (and a Str gem in it that I need to change out).

Hit: 11.04% (again, over due to gear)
Expertise: 27
Crit: 36.31%
ArP: 50.16%
AP: 4590

Any rotation/spec advice for my Fury set? Sorry I can't post Armory to this too; I decided I'd post my Arms one because that's what I pull in slightly more dps in raid as.

Thank you for your time and help - I am at my wits end here and feeling a bit burned out after watching myself be so low on the dps charts again and again. >>

Hey there everyone,

I'm currently having a slight issue with building threat on my DK Tank. Here (http://http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents.xml?r=Ysera&n=Poenadin&group=1) is my current spec. My current rotation for Single target Mobs is, D&D, IT, PS, HS, HS, OB Runicstrike when it's up, and deathcoil to as a RP Dump. Then HS, HS, HS, HS, HS, HS. And I refresh my diseases whenever applicable. I generally do the same for AoE tanking, but put a pest and BB into the mix.

Another thing I'm having issues with is a macro for setting up Rune Strike into most of my attacks, and help and tips would be appreciated. :D
