Yeah, yeah I know I'm late to the party. My guild very recently went from being an almost-entirely 10-man focussed ?guild (due to signups and server pop rather than desire) into a fully-fledged 25-man one so we're going back and tying up those loose ends before moving on to the good stuff.

We've cleared up to Vezax and the majority of my raid are very experienced with the 10-man versions of these encounters but I worry that that familiarity might cause as many problems as it solves. For example, we usually just split the ranged up in 10-man to remove the problem of Life Leech - presumably this isn't possible on 25-man.

So, some specific questions, if you will:

1. In almost full 245 gear (armory me), is Vezax possible to tank without kiting on 25-man? I can do so easily (without even using cooldowns most of the time) on 10-man but is this worth trying on 25-man?

2. How many healers for Vezax would you say? The best healers in my guild are in full iLevel 245 now so mana is more plentiful than it was back in 3.1.

3. Would you recommend cycling healers on the MT with each taking over once the previous one gets low on mana or is the damage too great to expect one healer at a time to cover it?

4. Do the portal team need a healer in 25-man or would you recommend sending four melee DPS? Or is four Warlocks better (so the DoTs tick on the brain once they exit?).

5. For the tentacle team, is it worth assigning specific people to be cleanse bots and nothing else?

6. Is it true that Justin Timberlake?

Power auras is a very compatible mod that can feature a lot of different things. It can display buffs, debuffs, cooldowns etc etc.

I set up my powerauras to show when I currently do NOT have an essential debuff on the target.

I also have set up my powerauras to show whenever a target is stunned, rooted, silenced, slowed, disoriented, cc with immunity (mind control/banish/cyclone), disarmed and lastly immune.

I have tried to put in all effects I could find, if you find any missing please report them.

The icons are currently set to show the actual effect on the target, if a target is stunned by concussive blow it should display concussive blow icon, if stunned by kidney shot, it should display the kidney shot icon.

Powerauras will display a big question mark instead of an icon untill the addon has "seen" an icon that it can use for a stun/snare/etc.

Let me just say that this is NOT finished in any way. There is room for improvement and the location of the icons are in my prefered location, you might want to move them in accordance to your UI.

Feel free to change and do everything you like to these importable strings.

Note: I tried to add a timer to every individual effect, but since I have these settings in global (so for all my characters) it defaulted the timers to the middle. I currently trying to figure out how to properly display all timers above said icon.

I decided after about 3 weeks away from wow i thought about getting into it again the problem is i realize the server i currently play my alliance on sticks
(Thorium Brotherhood)

I thought about making an alt on my horde server (Earthern Ring) i currently have there a hunter with engeering and tailoring.

but i'm not sure which class to make i seem to do better with range and feel more comfortable being a distance from the enemy then up in his face (from my experiance as a Holy pally, Mage and hunter)

so i thought about a healer or a caster any advise??

Hello, and welcome to Tankspot's written pre-release strategy guide on the Gunship Battle Encounter in Icecrown Citadel. My name is Spiritus and I will be going over the abilities seen on the PTR for this fight, as well as some basic speculative strategy on how to approach your first attempts.

BIG NOTE: As always, this is all speculative, but well researched. Nothing is ever certain until launch day, and even then the fight mechanics can change overnight. If I feel dodgy on something, I say so. Below is the best capture I could find for the Gunship Battle:

Environment, Positioning, and Pull:

(1) After defeating Lady Deathwhisper and clearing the trash up to a fork in the "road," the Alliance will go left and the Horde will go right to board your respective gunships. Once you board, make sure everyone talks to the gnome or goblin to receive jetpacks, which are necessary to defeat the event. After everyone has jetpacks and is ready, the raid leader should talk to either Muradin Bronzebeard(Alliance) or High Overlord Saurfang(Horde) to begin the encounter.

(2) Notice the cannons on the port side. There will be either 3 or 4 cannons that must be manned at all times (the video above has three, but I've seen videos with 4 as well). These are your only means of defeating the encounter, once your cannons do enough damage to the opposing gunship, you win. More on the mechanics of the cannons later.

(3) Your gunship will launch from its dock and start making its way up the Icecrown Citadel spire, when the opposite faction's vessel will intercept from above (it will be on the port side). The encounter begins when both ships are at broadsides.

(4) There can be several strategies for success for this fight, however, you will need at least 2 tanks, one for each ship. My suggestion is to keep your ranged AoE classes on your gunship and send high single target & melee classes over to the enemy ship.

(5) I will break the fight into the 3 unique groups, whom all will have a different task: Cannoneers, Ship Defenders, & Boarding Party.

Figure 1. Airship Battle Setup

Boss/Add/Vehicle Abilities:
As stated above, I'll first talk about the Cannoneers the members of your raid that will be manning the cannons. Then your Ship Defenders and respective mobs they will be fighting. Finally, your Boarding Party and the mobs they will encounter

<---Cannoneers--->

Cannoneers will man the cannons on your ship. Their primary responsibility is to DPS the enemy ship and the Axe Throwers. The better your cannoneers execute their job, the faster the encounter will be over. If you have a third tank in your raid, it is recommend that they man a cannon.

Gunship Cannon

Figure 2. Airship Cannon UI Display

Cannon Blast [Hotkey 1]
150yard range, Instant Cast.
Launches a cannonball at the target. Inflicts 1000 Siege damage and generates 6 to 10 Heat.
This is your "combo point" builder. Fire Cannon Blasts at the opposing Axe Throwers to hit both them and the ship. Each time you use Cannon Blast, you generate "Heat," which is your resource seen as the red/blue bar to the left of your hot-keys. You'll need to generate high amounts of Heat to maximize your use of Incinerating Blast, your main nuke. There is a catch, however. If you fill up your Heat bar completely, you will overheat and be unable use your cannon for 5sec. Don't overheat.

Incinerating Blast [Hotkey 2]
150yard range, Instant.
Consumes all of the cannon's Heat to launch a massive ball of fire at the target. Inflicts 1000 Siege damage plus additional damage per point of Heat.
This is your main nuke. Your job as a Cannoneer is to fire this off with as much heat as possible without locking up your cannon. This also should be fired at the Axe Throwers, as it damage both them and the ship.

Actions taken while your cannon is "Below Zero"
Either by timer or percentage of the enemy ship's health, one of the battle-mages will walk to the center of the enemy ship and begin to channel Below Zero (more on this later). When this happens your cannons will become frozen and you either are "kicked out" or have the option to leave. It is recommended that all DPS that are manning the cannons launch themselves onto the enemy ship to assist in DPSing the "Below Zero" mage. The faster the battle mage dies, the sooner you can get back to your cannon and continue DPSing the enemy ship.

<---Ship Defenders--->

The Ship Defenders should be comprised of 1 Tank, 2 Healers, and your ranged AoE DPS. Their job is to avoid incoming rocket strikes and defend the ship from the Sergeants and Reavers that will board your ship via a portal in the middle of your ship. The portal, however, will not show up at first. Before this, your ranged AoE DPS should be throwing AoE on the Axe Throwers, which are reachable from the friendly ship, so no need to use jet packs.

Avoid Incoming Rocket Strikes
The Rocketeers on the enemy ship will be launching rockets in your general direction. There will be a flashing targeting circle on the ground a few seconds before the rocket lands, so they should be easily avoidable. Your boarding party will be taking care of these guys so the number of strikes should decrease significantly once they have them under control. Don't stand in circles.

Enemy Portal
At some point close to the beginning of the fight, approx 30sec on the vide0, a portal will appear on your ship that will spawn waves of enemies. Each wave has 2 Sergeants and 4 Reavers. These waves do not let up and can build up quickly if not taken care of. A single tank should be sufficient to pick up all the adds, and at least two healers are recommended as they will have an MS effect up on them almost constantly. Melee DPS are not recommended for DPSing these mobs because of the Sergeant's bladestorm. Instead, have your Ranged AoE DPS team mow them down. Also, make sure to get your Gunship Captain (Bronzebeard or Saurfang) involved as they do considerable damage, especially as the fight progresses. Below are their respective stats and abilities:

Sergeants
539,200HP

Wounding Strike
150yard range, Instant.
Inflicts 200% weapon damage and leaves the target wounded, reducing the effectiveness of any healing by 40% [25%-10man] for 10 sec.
Self explanatory. This is why it is advisable to have two healers on your tank. I seriously doubt that a Wounding Strike from each Sergeant results in 80% healing reduction.

Bladestorm
150yard range, Instant.
Instantly Whirlwind up to 4 nearby targets and for the next 6 sec you will perform a whirlwind attack every 1.0 sec. While under the effects of Bladestorm, you can move but cannot perform any other abilities but you do not feel pity or remorse or fear and you cannot be stopped unless killed.
This is why you don't want melee in the Ship Defender's group. If arenas has taught be anything, its that MS+BS=bad news for non-tanks. Don't stand in Bladestorm if your not the tank.

Experienced [Unconfirmed]
Damage done increased by 30%. Attack and casting speeds increased by 20%.
Haven't been able to observe this, but presumably a buff gained by either being alive for Xsec or getting a killing blow on a raid member. Either that or a scratched ability.

Desperate Resolve
Increases armor by 120% [60%-10man] and attack speed by 60%.
Buff gained near death. Kill more quicklier to resolve this. Healers should be ready for a massive damage spike when this occurs.

Reavers
215,700HP

Reavers don't do anything special besides hit hard. That and possibly existing as an homage to Firefly (shameless plug).

Experienced [Unconfirmed]
Damage done increased by 30%. Attack and casting speeds increased by 20%.
See Above.

Desperate Resolve
Increases armor by 120% [60%-10man] and attack speed by 60%.
See Above.

<---Boarding Party--->

The Boarding Party will be the group that uses their jet packs to jump to the enemy ship and take the battle to them. This group will consist of 1 tank, at least 2 healers, and high single target DPS + any melee DPS not in a cannon. The job of the DPS is to keep the number of Axe Throwers and Rocketeers to a minimum and to lay down heavy DPS on the "Below Zero" mage. The tank will be keeping the Enemy Captain occupied, allowing the DPS to do their job. Below are the mobs and a list of their abilities:

Axe Throwers
215,700HP
Axe Throwers... throw axes. The encounter starts with 8 and their numbers are replenished through the portal at the stern of the ship. After the initial group is "broken," there should not be more than three up at a time. It is recommended to have a minimum of 3 DPS working on the Axe Throwers to keep their numbers low. Cannoneers will be assisting in bringing them down as well.

Hurl Axe
50,000yard range(heck of a toss), 2sec cast.
Hurl an axe at the target, inflicting 5700 to 6300 [3800-4200 10man] Physical damage.
A good reason to have plate DPS working on the Axe Throwers.

Experienced [Unconfirmed]
Damage done increased by 30%. Attack and casting speeds increased by 20%.
See Above.

Desperate Resolve
Increases armor by 120% [60%-10man] and attack speed by 60%.
See Above.

Rocketeers
94,700HP

Rocketeers are found on the far port side of the enemy ship. The encounter starts with four, and their numbers are replenished by the portal at the stern of the ship. 2 DPS are recommended at a minimum to keep their numbers low.

Rocket Artillery & Explosion
50,000yard range, 5sec cast.
Launches a rocket that explodes on impact, inflicting Fire damage to nearby enemies and Siege damage to the enemy gunship. The result is Explosion, which inflicts 6300 to 7700 Fire damage to nearby enemies and Siege damage to the enemy gunship.
Obviously, one way to lose this encounter is for your own ship to crash first. If the number of Rocketeers are not kept in check, this will be the likely result. The Ranged AoE group on the "Ship Defenders" team will be constantly moving to avoid these strikes, so it is vitally important to have as little rocket strikes as possible. The location of the rocket strike will be annotated by a targeting circle on the ground (see video).

Experienced [Unconfirmed]
Damage done increased by 30%. Attack and casting speeds increased by 20%.
See Above.

Desperate Resolve
Increases armor by 120% [60%-10man] and attack speed by 60%.
See Above.

Enemy Captain [Bronzebeard or Saurfang]
4.9m HP [unconfirmed]
The Enemy Captain must be tanked while the Boarding Party is doing their job. It is recommended that this tank have at least one dedicated healer to start, ramping up to two as the fight progresses. You cannot kill the Enemy Captain. A guild reported attempting this and he supposedly enraged and killed everyone when he got low on health. Your more than welcome to try, but don't say I didn't warn you. No DPS should be put on the Enemy Captain, instead the tank will just keep him "occupied."

Battle Fury
Melee, Instant, 20sec duration.
Increases all damage done by 7% [5%-10man]
This is a "debuff" placed on the tank. Every time the Enemy Captain connects with the recipient of Battle Fury, he will increase his damage done by 7%. In the video, a single tank occupied the Enemy Captain for the duration of the fight, so I am uncertain if this ability was bugged on that attempt, not as dangerous as it sounds, or the tank and healers were exceptional. Other PTR tests confirmed this ability. Suffice to say, if the tank is becoming increasingly impossible to heal, the raid leader must order everyone off the enemy ship for 20sec to let Battle Fury reset.

Tank swapping is not an option because it is a buff that the Captain himself receives from a debuff placed on his target. A high avoidance tank is recommended for this task.

Cleave
Melee, Instant, 6sec cooldown.
Inflicts 120% of normal melee damage to an enemy and its nearest allies, affecting up to 3 targets.
Don't stand in the cleave if your not the tank.

Battle-Mage
808.9m HP
Normally, two Battle-mages will be standing near the portal on the enemy ship, maintaining a channel on the portal where new Axe-Throwers and Rocketeers spawn. They should be ignored when doing so. Either on a percentage of the enemy ship health, or a timer, the Enemy Captain will call for one of the mages to neutralize your cannons. A Battle-mage will walk to the center of the enemy ship and begin channeling...

Below Zero
50,000yd range, Channeled, 15min.
Freezes the target in a block of ice by concentrating and freezing moisture in the air. The caster must channel to maintain the ice block.
This will freeze your cannons, causing them to be unusable until the channel is stopped. At this time all DPS that are attacking Axe-Throwers and Rocketeers + any DPS that were manning cannons should burn the "Below-Zero" mage. If your Ship Defender team is in a lull, it is recommended that a few of the ranged AoE group members jetpack over and assist bringing him down. The faster the battle mage dies, the quicker your Cannoneers can get back to DPSing, ending the fight quicker. Burning the "Below-Zero" mage quickly is the fastest way to speed up the fight.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

(1) Make sure everyone is on the Airship before activating the event.

(2) Make sure everyone has a jetpack and has placed it on their hotbars before activating the event.

(3) Don't stand in circles, cleaves, or bladestorms.

(4) Keeping the number of Rocketeers low is directly proportional to the success of the Ship Defenders.

(5) If the tank holding the Enemy Captain starts taking too much damage, order a retreat to the friendly ship for 20sec and re-engage.

(6) Do not overheat your cannons by allowing your "Heat" resource to reach 100%. Fire off Incinerating Blast with as close to 99%Heat as possible. Do this and the fight will be much quicker.

(7) DPS down the "Below-Zero" mage fast so your Cannoneers can get back to work again.

(8) Cannoneers "kill" the "boss." There is no other way to defeat the encounter.

(9) Run Fire Resist Aura or Totem for this fight, especially for the Ship Defender group.

(10) I have no clue what happens to raid members who get stuck on the enemy ship when it goes down. Sucks to be you.

I have a feeling this may end up being the most celebrated fight in all of WoW history to date for its overall atmosphere and "cool" factor. After watching too many videos, I just cannot wait to see this in action. It looks like a blast.

As always, feel free to add info to this post that will further everyone's understanding of the fight.

Good luck on the Gunship Battle! The Deathbringer Saurfang Encouter Pre-Release Guide will be available soon. Stay Tuned!

As you all might know - Pillgrim's Bounty Event is currently in the game and since I ordered my guild to use opportunity to level up cooking fast I'm bringing same guide to Tankspot forums, I think it will have it's use.

* * * (copied from our guild forums) * * *

For those like me that thought its bit hard and confusing - it's not, in fact.

First move to Undercity (Stormwind for Alliance)

1-40
Learn Cooking from Profession master
Get Simple Flour, Midle Spices 80x
Craft all until you get Cooking skill 40 (use all of them you will need them later)
Dont vendor bread

40-100
Buy @ Vendor "Bountiful Cookbook" it contains 5 recepies
Buy Autumn herbs in same amount (80)
Start making Spice Bread Stuffing.
It's nice hit food, it's needed for one quest, turn it in to get ~7g reward and save food - it will work for you this week if you need hit.

100-160
You are still in Undercity/Stormwind.
Buy Pumpkins and Honey at same vendor 80x of each
Get your skills up, save some pumpkins

-> Travel to Orgrimar (Ironforge) move outside of town.

160-220
In front of Ogri/Ironforge you will have several turn in quests aswel, turn them and take next ones.
Buy Cranberies and Honey again... 80x of each
Craft craft craft... (or cook, cook, cook)
Mount up and move to other Cepelin (or go to Theramore) and travel to Thunderbluff/Darnasus
You will find new set of vendors...
This time you have to buy 3 ingredients
Herbs, Honey and Potatoes again 80x of each
Craft craft craft... until you pass 280 skill

SPECULATIVE (I haven't done it yet)

Move back to Undercity/Stormwind (best to hs first to Dalaran)
280+ Learn last recepie remaining

280-340
Go to Tirisifal/Elwyn and go hunt turkeys (not sure about location in Elwyn, but wowhead shows map in Tirisifal)
Wild Turkey - NPC - World of Warcraft
Do that until you have around 80 wild turkeys
Then just move back to Undercity/Stormwind and cook again... Should take you to ~350 (After that Wotlk recepies are pretty easy to skillup cooking)

Some informations:
• I wrote everywhere 80x because that's approximate amount of mats needed until recepie go gray... according to luck and rng it might go gray you before or later, don't take it granted.
• You don't need any outside recepie except starting one for bread.

Enjoy...

I am not really certain about the importance of hitting 26 expertise as my currently expertise is after gemming 3 slots of gear for expertise, reducing my AP by at least 120(3 20 str gem slots).

Since I am not yet at the expertise cap, do I have to replace all my str gem slots with expertise until I hit the cap and then slowly replace them as I get more expertise from gear?

Anyways i was going through the forums and there wasnt really any good threads about how to make gold in WoW. so i thought why not write one for the general public. As this is my first real thread on this site i am hopeing for some feedback. Also this isnt a straight up get you 1000G in an an hour, but farming techniques that i have found on the web.

Level 5-10

Ok so here we go. First level your toon up to 5, preferably you should level it up to 10, but level 5 works well. ok now you have your lvl 5-10 toon, go to any major city and learn the professions Mining, Herbilism and Skinning. ok now go around ur starting area and gather the ore, herbs and skins u can. now go to the AH and find a medium price for ur wares. On my server, copper ore goes for 3-5G/stack, Light leather goes for 4-5G/stack and peacebloom goes for 3-4G per stack. in an average hour i can mine 25 nodes (about 2.5 stacks/hour), i can skin about 50 animals (about 2.5 stacks/hour) and i can gather about 50 nodes of herbs (about 3 stacks/hour). all up if u are using 2 gathering skills you can make about 15-20G/hour depending on demand and how well your servers AH is going.

Light feathers is another good awy to make gold in WoW. Because most professions and some classes use Light feathers as regents/mats, this is good for low level toons as most of the flying things in azeroth drop Light feathers. Now on my sever they sell for 3G/stack, but it could be different on your server.

Level 30+

This tip is for Desolace, Shadowprey Village. Just west of the Shadowprey dock in the water you will find submerged cages scattered around the sea floor. You need to open these cages for the rewards they contain. Most often they will drop shellfish or spawn a level 33-34 mob. However, they also occasionally drop other valuable items such as Big Iron Fishing Poles. I tend to find 2-3 per hour. These Fishing Poles sell on most servers for 14-25g. Add that to the close to 50s repeatable reward for 5 shellfish and vendor trash sells, and one can easly make 40-85g an hour.

Level 60 and Below

Here are some good grinding areas that always give u gold, vendor trash and some rare or common items, also runecloth.

1) Azshara - Azshara is one of the more popular World of Warcraft gold farming spots and for good reason. There are a few different approaches you can take here, but I would recommend heading to the north mid area first. You can start out with the Massive Timbermaws, than head further east to reach the Blood Elves. Blood Elves will drop Runecloth once they are killed, and there is always a market for Runecloth. I have also had a lot of success grinding on Legashi Demons. Legashi Demons will drop blues, greens, and occasionally even epics.

2) EPL - Eastern Plaguelands where there are a lot of creatures and monsters you can kill for gold.Although WoW Gold Farming in the Easter Plaguelands can take a while as the creatures do not drop masses of gold they still tend to drop more then in most areas of the game. If you have a few hours though and want to make a lot of gold WoW Gold Farming this is the spot for you.The first creatures that you should kill for WoW Gold Farming is the Mossflayer Zombies and although they do not drop masses of goodies they are quite east to kill. The main reason you should use the zombies for WoW Gold Farming is they drop runecloth on a regular basis and this can be sold for big money.

Level 60 - 70

around this level you should really be focusing on easy dungeons that you can solo. Now there are a couple of easy instances, such as stratholme, black rock depths, dire maul and other lower ones are helpful. the items and gold they drop can be sodl to a vendor or put on the AH for a reasonable price. also this is solo able for any characters at level 70.

level 80

There are many ways for you to make gold at level 80. mining is a good profession as you can mine saronite and titanium and sell them on the AH for huge profits. Skinning is also a good profession as you can sell borean leather, icy dragon scale, narubian chitin and artic fur and sell them on the AH for huge profits.

Dungeons such as Hellfire ramparts, blood furnace, slave pens and mana tombs can be good gold/run, also the green items and vendor trash you can get anything from 70-100G/hour.

Hope this helps you get your epic flying mount or whatever you need to buy. Please feel free to leave a comment and if you would like me to investigate anything further by all means please ask.

anyways thanks for your time.

Im playing on my laptop currently and it works fine and does decent in 10 mans but it struggles in 25 mans and dalaran really bad. With all settings down as low as possible.

Of course I know it isnt meant for what im using it for, but I have to make due for a couple of more weeks. I just would like some tips on where to get a decently priced computer that can handle Dalaran and 25 mans on max settings.

1st. I was wondering what the blizzard recommended requirements are? and then what will fullfill my needs as a gaming computer.

2nd. any recommendations on a company that builds computers, and like what kind of processor and or video card i need. How much ram, and does it matter if it is DDR2 or DDR3(im assuming that DDR3 is the newer/better stuff.

I have looked at alienware, and ibuypower.com. Just want to hear your thoughts before I buy something from them or if it would be cheaper to buy a basic computer with a good processor and just upgrading the power supply, video card and RAM.

---also i am used to playing with the touchpad mouse on my laptop and would like to find a keyboard to connect to my new desktop that has a touchpad mouse on it, if that is possible.

Thanks
