2.3, NWN2, UO, Halo3, Frog - Page 2

After I finished Episode 1 and 2 for HL2, I'll have to put NWN2 back on and go through it again and then get the expansion. Not sure if I still have Io or not.

Might try a cleric this time actually. Never really played one, even in NWN.

That's provided I don't get sucked into downloading the new America's Army, or playing Team Fortress.

I don't know if they finally fixed all the hacks or not, but I absolutely LOVED assault on the Bridge map. Teamwork and coordination were key, which is what made it so much fun. T and I used to play AA religously.

I played UO on the Pacific server too. lol That game was definitely something that should be tried again in the future. I never did get into PvP (although I was building an assassin, but was taking my time), but the shear possibilities of what you could do in that game was amazing, and still ahead of its time even now.

I also like the way 'tanking' in DnD means the plate classes blocking a doorway. That's real life mechanics at work. EQ and WoW tanking is really just not believable, just like that kind of tanking doesn't work in PvP because people aren't that stupid. This should be doubly so with like a god or something. Why would they just stick to the tank the whole time?

I actually built an insane desktop with the thinking Vanguard was going to be my new game, but for some reason I never really felt like my character was headed in any direction. Much like EQ, there's just no differenciation between characters of the same class, and I just can't stand that, especially since I was coming off of playing a player run RP NWN1 server. DnDs system is so much more customizable than WoW, but it's like night and day between DnD and Vanguard. You'd think a next gen game would have a more complicated set of character creation options. /boggle It's basically EQ with WoW quests and some shiney graphics. Woo hoo.

The game I would really love to see made would have to be a UO type skill system and placables with a Shadowbane city building and siege system adding in dungeon types from WoW and EQ. Also while I like raiding, it doesn't feel natural because of all the suspension of belief ideas that must be woven into the system in order for it to work (threat), but I would love to see a raid system where you're raid is actually raiding an enemy stronghold or something. That would be awesome. Something where tanking would have to be a positioning thing instead of some added in falacy like threat gen.

I don't think I've been more excited about a game in awhile.

After playing around with the demo, and seeing all the work they've done on it so far with the voice acting, the graphics, sounds, and the whole ambience... I'm VERY impressed.
