I must have spent 20 minutes LFG for a group quest in Icecrown. I know a lot of people just say "gwaaaarn, solo it!" but I find that universally means "gwaaarn die horribly and get your gear damaged while you flail wildly at a mob who reacts to your EPIC MACE like it's a wiffle bat". So I looked for group. I was like Lindsay Lohan, desperate for someone to hang out with, but obviously woefully undeserving of any attention.

I cajoled, I pleaded. I asked politely, yet firmly. Narry a response. I was in the cave where the boss was (quest for the faceless in the Saronite mine). All I had to do was poke sticks into the foreman there and it would all be good! But no help was forthcoming.

I don't know how long he'd been there behind me. Not long, probably. An orc. A stinky Horde. I targetted him immediately and prepared to battle to the death. I suck a lot, so it wouldn't have taken long. I'd have gone down faster than... wait, I've already done the Lindsay Lohan thing, haven't I? Anyway. Fast.

He waved at me. Then he pointed at the Foreman.

I nodded. He nodded back. He pointed at the Foreman again and I charged in.

The fight was short, and brutal. Blood was shed. I peed my pants a little.

The foreman dead I got my quest thingy and the filthy enemy Orc /cheered.

I backed up a bit to get out of aggro range and waited while the elite respawned. It didn't take long, and when it did he ran in and I waited a few seconds before charging and pummelling it.

I must have spent 20 minutes LFG for a group quest in Icecrown and it was the enemy who answered. We may be on opposite sides, but we have a common enemy - that guy. It's funny how many quests I've had help from the Horde with. A trip to the Zul'Drak Ring of Blood equivalent ended up as two guilds, alliance and horde, condensed in a small area. Their leader waved to me. I waved back. They started the quest chain and while some of us held back and watched, most of us jumped in and added our DPS to the fight. We let them finish and their leader, a well geared rogue stayed to help us.

We slash-saluted him and he slash-saluted us. God it was tempting to kill him.

My point is that I've actually been helped more than I've been ganked, and I prefer to return the favour. As a 3 year Alliance player I would just like to say to any of the Hordies who looked beyond the factions to see a fellow player trying to kill an elite at 4am, thank you.

And... FOR THE HORDE!

I feel dirty now.

I kinda like it.

    Long live FFA PVP.

Because both factions have cool people. It's a pity Blizzard sees fit to keep you from interacting with them in a positive manner.

On my previous PVE realm (current one doesn't count as there are so few horde) it was very common for the opposite side to help out. My mage alt had a friendship, of sorts, with a warlock from the top horde guild that consisted of hugs, kisses and flirts. It's amazing how coming back from AFK in Shattrah and finding a familiar face sitting in front of you and who would cheer and kiss you when you moved, could make me smile.

Thats when you create a level 1 horde alt and whisper him. At least I would.

I did a whole mess of group quests with allies (I'm a tauren).

There are never any horde around, and if they are they're huge dicks. If there is an ally surprisingly, they usually help out.

I've rescued a few Horde in a similar manner as well. I see no shame in it, since they are gamers just like me.

I've also had my own questing ruined by both horde and alliance alike. So it just goes to show, whatever side you're on there are still jerks.

But if any horde puts their PvP tags on to taunt me, I will Shield Slam them into the ground.

As i was leveling, i hit the Abbendis group quest. As i hate looking around for people & i'm tank, i decided to go it alone. She's not really one to solo easily and it appeared that i'd probably not make it (though it'd be close). In comes a 4-man horde group (i'm on a really brutal pvp server). Instead of getting their free HK, they helped me with the kill. I thanked them & stayed around as i noticed they had no tank among them.

For about a minute they all fidgeted, thinking i'd spoil their attempt, constantly on the lookout for any move on my part to indicate i had evil intentions. Through some creative emoting, i made it known i'd help them back. They pulled & tagged, i went in, got aggro & tanked for them. We /hugged & /cheered & went our merry ways.

A nice change of pace from the "if it's red, it's dead" mentality totally dominating my server.
