I was a nub when I rolled a glorious Paladin nearly four years ago now. I was such a nub I thought Alliance was the way to go. I was such a nub I had no idea what the different server types were. I was such a nub I somehow ended up with a Warrior instead of a Paladin. I have no idea how.

I rolled on the random server that the free trial suggested, and began the all-important task of killing wolves. Unfortunately I was not able to complete the Sisyphean lupine slaughter, and must report that the woods around Goldshire are still filled with the blighters.

I rolled PvE. I had no interest in PvP. The years went by (I level really slowly) and my encounters with the Horde were limited to /wave or the occasional kill steal in STV. No ganking, no griefing, no corpse camping. Up to level 70 I had little contact with the Horde in any but major neutral cities. They were like creatures of legend! Giant ox men! Cannibalistic troll creatures! OMG!

Well, there was one time Booty Bay's guards got drunk and passed out, turning BB into a BG. My contribution to the glorious brawl that erupted could be best described as "giving a bunch of free HKs to the Horde". Eventually the Alliance asked me to please stop helping and go hide somewhere with the women and children.

Then came the Great Server Move of Aught Eight. Me and some pallies (by which I mean friends, not paladins) decided to form a guild, and move to a new server. With a couple of pallies (by which I mean paladins, not friends) already in the guild we recruited from a gaming community I run and soon had interest in a new guild ready to go for Wrath. But the concensus was clear.

PvP or no dice.

Thus began my transition from the safe and clean bubblewrap (not a paladin reference) of a PvE realm to the cold, dark harshness of a PvP server.

And so begins my blog. I'll be writing here on the joys of being on a PvP server when you hate PvP. I'll be writing on how to convey complex concepts, such as "please don't kill me, I don't want to die" through emotes. I'll also be writing about the process of running a tiny casual guild.

If you're looking for theorycraft, mathematics, strategy, or even truth - you may be looking in the wrong place. I hope to write more soon.

    Great read.

And yes. Being a person who leveled his warrior on a PVP server from beta to one year ago, level a toon on it. Could just be the single most frustrating/exhilarating/angering/ego-topping time you can have in this game.
