Warriors are the new Black?
Fashionista metaphor aside, I have found a few things out during the first week of Ulduar which I am pleasantly surprised about.
First, I am now a DK. I mean, I have CDs like my DK. The first time I noticed this was Ignis. I was dying on our pulls about 15 seconds into the encounter. Directly after a flame jet, just too much aoe damage along with my incoming 25k damage per hit means a dead tank.
The solution? Blow Last stand + enraged regen + trinket.
This is a tactic that can solve almost any incoming damage if you're getting any semblence of healing. Next time I would just blow shield wall, boom, another phase of danger down.
The next time I would have to survive on raid heals alone, or have shield block ready to go, though taking a few K less damage is always nice and helpful!
After this, my CDs are back up!
My warrior is doing more damage!!! 5%? Maybe, maybe not, I lost deep wounds in search of greener mitigation with Imp Disciplines. Though, I am still doing 2k ish dps while tanking, which is a step up from my 1.7k usual dps in t7 instances.
<OP>, the guild I am a member of, does not run with a druid or paladin tank. We feel we don't need one at the moment. We have two warriors, myself and another top notch warrior, along with 2 death knights who are among the best I have seen, and being on blackrock, I have seen more than enough.
Warriors are in a great place at the moment. Hopefully we scale well in Ulduar gear and by the end we can be enough to tank Algalon the Raid Destroyer, I am very much looking forward to this, immensely. Our guild missed out on black drakes due to immortal being RNG screwed for 8 weeks straight. One single death each week for two months, very dissapointing.
We are Waltzing through Ulduar with some steam, and if our dps steps up a bit, we can wail out some hard-modes this week or next(thinking Hodir to start, very easy encounter once everyone knows what the intricacies are).
Hope you all are having as much fun in Ulduar as I am, if you have any questions as far as progression goes, or if you are wondering about the guild, feel free to ask or send a PM.
<OP> is recruiting dps that can pull big #s, Moreover, you can't just stand in fire and pull big #s!
WTS tears to feed on, pst, cheaper than AH!

Quick question, whats the name of the other warrior tank? I believe I know him irl.Posted 04-19-2009 at 04:30 PM by Jungy

I'm more than delighted with my state of a warrior tank right now. I'm still the 15/5/51 build, and i have all yer clasic glyphs, I did switch to glyph of cleaving for 10's though. But, with the damage increase, and the potential for glyph/spec 2 min wall, I like it. I'm comfortable enough with my healers ATM, so we'll see.Posted 04-19-2009 at 04:54 PM by Glomgore

I can only agree with you on the state of Warriors. We've shifted into the possibility of a semi-reactive CD centric tank if we want, and I do like the option of 2 min Shield Wall and Last Stand as well as our continued utility set. The Iron Council was a joy to tank last night.
Personally I've sticked with two protection spec, one more dps / threat focus (15/5/51- deep-wounds) and one more defensive (5/15/51 - imp. demo-shout / commanding shout, imp. spell reflect and disciplines).Posted 04-20-2009 at 03:41 AM by Roarc
