Leading Technique #2: Keeping the Right Attitude

Posted 08-06-2008 at 09:24 AM by veneretio

We all have highs and lows as Raid Leaders. It's no secret that our tone of voice (otherwise known as our mood) can greatly affect the tone or mood of our entire raid. Passionate, excited, encouraged, courageous raid leaders get results out of an empty glass. Raid Leaders coming off with the opposite attitude get noticeably worse results.

But, what happens when things really are going bad?

What about when I'm in a really bad mood?

Well that Sally is the hard...

Sometimes, it's just not possible to care...

Sometimes, it's just not possible to fake it...

Yesterday, I was still excited from the previous night's accomplishments...

Yesterday, I was excited at the thought of doing a real night of Gurtogg attempts...

Yesterday, I was pumped and ready to pull Gurtogg...

Yesterday, my best friend's kid brother rolled his vehicle going 110 mph leaving him paralyzed from the waist down...

Yesterday, I did Gurtogg attempts and just didn't...

They just don't listen to me.

It's a horrible, poisonousness feeling when you realize that your raid is zoning you out. Here's what I've found...

1. This is your fault
2. Get to the Point Faster
3. Repeat yourself, a lot

On progression you'll honestly need to repeat yourself 3 times. A lot of raid leaders don't do this simply because they do this ridiculously huge long winded explanation. It's better to give something a bit longer first try then do a summary after the first and 2nd...

Being a Raid Leader isn't about killing bosses...

Posted 05-24-2008 at 04:08 PM by veneretio

...and anyone who tells you it is hasn't done it long enough.

It really has absolutely nothing to do with progression or strats for fights even. It rarely has to do with situational awareness or being able to make the best group composition.

Nope... none of that stuff really is even close to as important as Empathy.

Being able to understand what each individual in your raid goes through and communicate with them effectively. Empathy doesn't mean that...
