When X-Guildies Attack!

You all have that guy in your guild that's a massive pain in the ass. He eats up all your time, constantly. Well mine finally left... so I thought.
We progress reasonably well as a guild, but ultimately we will never be the most progressive guild. So, when one of our more elitist minded players left for a more progressive guild I was far from surprised and thinking about all the time I was about to save, I happily wished him good luck and farewell.
...
I guess he didn't get the message. His first raid with his new guild he decided to link the damage meters to members of my raid while both his new guild and mine were raiding. Suffice to say I'm thankful I heard of this after the raid. Of course, it didn't end there. He also whispered a member of my guild that didn't get into the raid saying that they didn't get in there because I had taken his advice and not included the person.
...
If there's one thing that truly pisses me off. One thing that will cause me to hit it pure rage mode it's messing with the fun of my raiders. Fortunately, I've cooled down now and as of right now I've simply informed his new GM of his jerkness and the GM has said he'll straighten him up. I'll also be informing my raid that they simply should put him on ignore if he's pestering them. Don't let him get to ya and I'll be informing those in the guild that he's still friends with that he's no longer welcome on vent. (did I mention he went on vent after and bragged it all up... >.<)
So we'll see how it goes. Keep my cool and in time, I'm sure he'll get what he deserves. Regardless, I'm very thankful I'm done with him. He can have his epics, I'll keep my sanity.

My guild recently had this happen as well. We lost a couple so to speak an ok warllock and a priest that always died to anything and everything. Then they quit and continued telling us that we would fail at raiding and never make it further with out them. Suffice it to say now that they are gone we have made it 4/5 Hyjal and moving on smoothly. I know exactly how you feelPosted 05-07-2008 at 04:01 AM by Joeker

It is very satisfying when you see someone hanging about forlornly in Iron Forge (poor gear and/or guild) that left you months earlier as you weren't progressing fast enough and you are now way ahead of them.

I had a recent player quit in the middle of the night for the more progressed guild on the server. How she ended up with the /ginvite in the first place is a completely different story.
It was bittersweet. On the one hand, we lost a full T6 geared player. But on the other hand, they kicked her from her first Sunwell raid for being so terrible. All I could do was sit back, grin, and think "Hey, not my problem anymore."
Really, you're probably better off without them in the raid. You'll find someone better to replace them with.Posted 05-07-2008 at 09:19 AM by Caulle

Thinking about revenge isn't going to help at all. Don't worry about trying to judge the success of your guild by your ability to achieve the goals of people who really don't belong in your guild.
Not every guild has to be a server first 30 hour+ raiding guild, and those that want that atmosphere shouldn't have chosen your guild in the first place.
Judge your success based on the ideals of your guild as a whole. Or even more specifically, judge the success of your raid on the ideals of your raid, not the odd person who wants more or less out of your raid.
The bigger problem is the immaturity of a player who can't let go. He's gone on to 'greener pastures' that may better let him achieve his goals. There's no need for him to lord it over other players who aren't interested in raiding 30+ hours a week. Hopefully he'll get over himself. Unfortunately, I don't think there's much more you can do than talking to the GM of the other guild and asking him to resolve the problem. Which is surely a frustrating thing to do.Posted 05-07-2008 at 10:01 AM by Kavtor

Cider...that's pretty hilarious coming from the Pepsi dude.
Vene- that's intense. I know you will handle it will class, as always
. Your raiders are most definitely better off as a result of these difficult decisions. Keep up the good work.Posted 05-07-2008 at 05:51 PM by Lilie
