You'll see that I cut it back a little bit in order to make it small enough for Matt's article here:

The dual-spec feature that Blizzard has hinted towards has some exciting possibilities. In particular, the idea of allowing you to spec twice and keep 2 specs which you can freely switch between at any time as long as you are out of combat and not in the arena or battlegrounds. This would allow even greater flexibility for raid environments as a raid could quickly go from 7 healers to 10 and back to 7 within seconds. It'd allow them to be more aggressive in locking down particular elemental trees even as pure dps classes such as Warlocks and Mages could flip between Fire/Shadow and Frost/Arcane respectively too. Being able to easily switch roles and virtually requiring for optimal raid performance that your skilled players be able to fill multiple roles and play multiple specs would be an elegant way to offer an amazing new experience and challenge to even the most seasoned raider. It remains to be seen if they'll be this ambitious, but first and foremost my hope is that the new system will involve some kind of template system where you can use a sandbox area to set up specs and easily flip to a new spec without having to nervously walk your way down the talent tree desperately hoping that you don't forgot something or that lag doesn't make you accidentally misclick. |
