On Blocking in WotLK

As we've all pretty much deduce at this point, blocking is going to be a pretty big deal in the expansion or at least they are trying to make it that way. So, I wish for only 1 change.
Merge Block Rating and Block Value.
It's simply the only reasonable thing to do with so many talents being based on AP and Shield Slam on it's own as the only ability affected by Block Value.
Thoughts?

On one hand, I would love to see the two combined into "Block," but then I thought about what Norrath said & it may not work so well. Of course, Blizzard could just change the ratio for paladins so they are not harmed by the change?
Lowering the ratio sounds great, especially since we could just start using DPS gear...or, =0
Problem is it won't have the same effect in WLK as we experience now. Not sure about all of the WLK changes, so whether it would be really great or not is up for grabs.Posted 07-21-2008 at 03:46 AM by Arideni

I think warrior and pallidan blocking patterns will be a more exaggerated version of what you see now. That pallies will block every attack, while warriors won't but will block more when they do. With Shield block no longer giving enough charges for warriors to keep it up all the time, but giving 100% more block on one attack, plus the block talent for critical blocks, Warrior block mitigation will be much more spikey. Pallies will basically have the steady mitigation from block they've always had.
Merging block value and block rating, however, would only work if the new stat had a much different item budge value than block value and rating. Also block value is a static mitigation and would be difficult in that its whole strong point is that it doesn't scale according to any other standard or rating.Posted 07-21-2008 at 10:00 AM by SuperFlounder
