F*ck Off Lucas, Spidey, Mummy, Posters, Much More!
There's really too much to talk about here, I'm really not even sure where to start. It seems like the last few days were a bit mundane, but all of a sudden Friday splooged its goodness all over the place. There's a bit of EVERYTHING in this blog post, so here we go.
We'll go ahead and start with a flick I've made you all a bit too familiar with: Hancock. The star-studded premiere has been canceled due to all the negative feedback the movie is getting and as a result, they're reshooting significant amounts of the flick. What this will mean for the "Hard R" production is unsure, but I seriously doubt the movie will be terrible. It'll make tons of money either way.
This next image speaks for itself. Check it out.

If you've ever wondered what Dwight from "The Office" would look like as a kid, the promotional department for his new summer comedy "The Rocker" has delivered.

One movie that has definitely been overlooked with all the hype over Ironman, Batman, Hulk, Indy, etc has been the sequel to The Punisher, which comes out this summer as well. Anyways, not much to say yet except they changed the lead actor... which I guess is a lot to say. Here's the teaser poster for "Punisher: War Zone".

Getting to one of the topics I actually mentioned in the title, there's news of Spiderman 4 and 5 in the mix... which is terrible in my opinion. Its been reported that the new script for Spiderman 4 is ready, and is apparently been written in such a manner for it to be filmed alongside the still in the works Spiderman 5. We'll see what happens with that. Sony has said they want to do it, but no one has officially signed on for the project.
While BSG moves towards its close, it appears there's more and more in the works in the line of going out with quite the bang. Its been reported that NBC-Universal is making arrangements for the filming of multiple BSG made-for-tv movies this summer. They're being set to intertwine with the series as its running, apparently, so we'll see what happens.
So this fall on Fox I've already talked about a couple of the shows we can expect. I had a video that worked for a while, but the link has since gone dead... So you can't see the goodness that I experienced, sadly, but I can tell you the Fox lineup with Fringe and Dollhouse doesn't look bad. What's even better is the schedule has been released... and its very enticing.
Also interesting is this pretty significant tidbit. Its an amazing, superb strategy to counter the TiVo/DVR crowd out there.
And I mean brilliant. The entire reason a significant majority of DVR users have stated they don't watch TV shows live is because they don't like wasting time with commercials during a timeslot they know they can do something else. That's pretty much my reason, for the most part. If I can A) Play a game or something and fast-forward through the commercials later or B) Watch my show live but with tons of commercials, I tend to pick option A. Having just a few minutes of commercials would be pretty nice. I always feel cheapened with the knowledge that my hour show is really 40-43 minutes. >_>
The Mummy 3 teaser trailer has just hit the internets. You can find it here. That link will bring up Windows Media Player. Sadly its an MSN exclusive, not sure if it'll work on Mac yet. Haven't been home to try. Looks good though! Watch it if you can.
I think I've mentioned the action-comedy coming out this summer called "Tropic Thunder" before. Its a Galaxy Quest like film by comparison, where the theme is you have the actors tossed into real situations. In this case you have Ben Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr all trying to revitalize their careers by making the most badass action flick ever. Anyways, the "Red band" trailer has been released (via iTunes only), so check it out.

P.S... a red band trailer is an "R" rated movie trailer, where the trailer itself isn't approved for all audiences or whatever by the MPAA. :P
And FINALLY... we come to the first part of this blog title.
So Fox News caught up with George Lucas and had an interview with him about the new Indy flick. He had lots of interesting things to say... especially this. And when I mean interesting here, I actually mean "go jump off a cliff and die". He's talking about a fifth Indy movie.
You can read the full bit at Fox News. I'd never want to see it happen, not unless this movie is absolutely and undeniably better than the other three. It won't be, and everyone knows it... so with that said, let's allow this one last venture with Indy to occur and let the series end.

J.J. Abrams’ lucky sci-fi hourlong “Fringe” will have blockbuster “House” as a lead-in on Tuesdays. Come January, “Fringe” will have TV’s top-rated show, “American Idol,” as its lead-in. Fox is being very good to “Fringe.” Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse” will lead in to “24” starting in January. “Terminator” will be teamed with “Prison Break” on Mondays in the meantime (this fall). |
|
Both "Fringe" and "Dollhouse" would have network commercial loads of about five minutes per hour, about half the usual. The commercial pods would also be shorter and they would have about half the promo load as well. |

I haven’t even told Steven or Harrison this. But I have an idea to make Shia [LeBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out. |

| | eww....this Shia LeBouf clown with his ridiculous name is the next hot thing but I don't get it. Yeah....Harrison Ford is getting up there in years but damn....that really changes things. I'd give Lucas the benefit of the doubt until I see Indy 4 at least. I guess it could work if it was well done but I'm doubtful on messing with the formula so much especially with the lukewarm reviews on the newest movie.... |

| | Oh god no, a sequel to that rotting abortion of a film "punisher"? It needs more than a new lead actor... |

| | Here is proof that George Lucas is officially off his rocker and either sabotaging his franchises to spite us or just insane: In its earliest incarnation, Lucas proposed an all-out alien flick called "Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men From Mars." Spielberg and Ford didn't like that idea, and it took more than a decade of wrangling to come up with a story all three could live with. A trailer showing a crate marked "Roswell, New Mexico, 1947" -- a mecca for UFO buffs -- hints that the movie retains traces of its extraterrestrial origins. Remarks by Lucas that the new film took its cue from 1950s sci-fi tales backs up that notion. "The B-movies of the '50s were crazy science-fiction films, 'It Came From Outer Space' and 'Them!' and I said, 'Well, gee, I could use that as the basis of the genre that I was using as my reference,' " Lucas said. |
