I'm Actually Surprised

So whether you follow movies or not, if you've been to one released by Sony or just been recently in general, you may have seen the trailer for Will Smith's new summer flick, Hancock.

There's a couple of links. I warn you, what you'll see there is not pretty in the slightest. So much so that my best movie going friend and I both have started groaning when put through the teaser when we're at the theater. The other night a new extended trailer was apparently released for the movie... and I'm pretty fucking shocked. I mean my opinion of the flick has taken a complete one hundred and eighty degree turn from the thought of "dear god I'll never want to sit through THAT" to "hey that might actually be entertaining". I won't dare to suggest anything other than that at this point. The new trailer is below. If you haven't seen the original, be sure to watch it from one of the links I posted up above before diving in to the new one.

So with that out of the way, its finally official... although for all intents and purposes it might as well have been from the first announcement... Guillermo del Toro is the director of 2-part Hobbit series under the production of Peter Jackson. Since they've only been talking about this for the past two months, maybe they'll finally start working on the movie?

Now I guess I haven't said anything about TV related stuff for quite a while... but the frontier there has bee a bit quiet. Things are moving back into production mode thankfully, but I guess not too much has been newsworthy... until now.

As many people know, Conan O'Brien of NBC's "Late Night" is set to take over "The Tonight Show" next year when Jay Leno retires... now while that announcement has been known for some time, NBC hasn't said who's taking over Late Night. Well the word is apparently out that SNL's Jimmy Fallon will be the new host. Will it be good? Dunno. Never personally been a fan of his... but won't matter too much since I only follow Conan anyways.

Now this won't make much sense to a supremely vast majority of anyone who reads this, but I'm putting it up anyways because if even one person knows what I'm talking about, its worth it... Back in the late 70s on British TV there was the essential British Star Trek, called "Blake's 7". It was a pretty damn good show. A friend turned me on to it and its definitely good. I'd definitely recommend checking it out if you can because its pretty sweet. Regardless, due to the success of such remakes like Doctor Who and Battlestar Galactica, the folks at Sky One are deciding to bring Blake's 7 back to TV. I'll be watching and waiting, I know that for sure.
