Burn After Reading, Will Ferrell, Bond, Sherlock

So Burn After Reading was good. Quality flick to be expected from the Coen Bros. I enjoyed it, I'm sure you will too. Not going to give any spoilers beyond saying that the hectic and frantic story was fun to follow and kept you surprised and interested throughout.
A few weeks back I posted a tidbit about JJ Abrams saying that Shatner would not being in the new Star Trek movie. Well Shatner has now responded to that via youtube and it practically summarizes why he shouldn't be.
And since I already have you linked to that previous blog entry, I also mentioned some news on the new Spielberg + Jackson coop movie, Tintin. Its not precisely news that Dreamworks isn't exactly a successful studio. It took being bailed out by Indian investors and a contract with Paramount to keep the production company in business. It looks like Paramount, who's, head is one Brad Grey, basically wants to fuck over Spielberg however possible. The pair have some sort of feud between them which only began getting hotter when Dreamworks became Paramount's bitch.
Despite contractual agreements that Dreamworks can greenlight pretty much any Spielberg project, Paramount is refusing to fund. Should make for an interesting bit of news to follow.
There's still a fair amount of individuals here on Tankspot that follow Age of Conan so I thought I'd bring this up for you guys.
Everyone's favorite director to hate these days, and for good reason, Brett Ratner, is prepared to wound all of your souls too. After long talks of a rekindling of the franchise on the big screen from names like Rob Zombie and Neil Marshall, it seems, somehow, in some way, the title is planting itself firmly within Ratner's less than capable hands. Be afraid all your Cimmerian lovers.
I firmly believe that everyone likes something that Will Ferrell has done through the years. Be it the bits on SNL, Anchorman, whatever, you've gotta enjoy at least one thing he's done. Here's another to laugh at because its pretty damn amusing.

Have you ever seen trailers or heard about a movie that you really wanted to be good, but ultimately knew it would be terrible despite all the efforts behind the cast simply because a bad director or script is attached? I think that'll be the way "The Spirit" is remembered. I want this movie to be good, especially because of all the amazingly hot women attached to the film... but its probably going to be terrible.
Anyways, here's some new posters.

My love for movies aside, I'm always looking for TV shows to watch. Movies are great. When done well they provide us with a brief glimpse at a group of characters in their struggles, humor, adventures, whatever. TV shows are where the real stories are at though. Like Mary McDonnell (Laura Roslin on Battlestar Galactica) said when asked at ComicCon 2007 why she, a movie star, would do some lowly TV show, she simply replied stating that she could never play a character like Roslin in a movie.
That being said, I'm pretty interested in what may be happening with this next TV show. The show is called Warehouse 13 and is being but on by Sci-Fi. The story centers around "Secret Service agents charged with procuring a huge, top-secret South Dakota storage facility full of supernatural artifacts and relics" (think Raiders of the Lost Ark).
Not that doesn't precisely send my spine tingling, but the creative talent behind the show does:
Not sure of those names mean anything to all of you... but they make my pp tingle.
The series is slated to begin next July.
The new James Bond theme is out featuring Alicia Keys and Jack White. Interesting tune, definitely different for a Bond movie as I noted months back when it was announced that it would be the first Bond duet when Amy Winehouse turned out to be too stoned to do the gig.

Keira Knightley is hot.

That being said, she seems to be infatuated with period-pieces when she does movies... meaning we never get to see her in something slinky or revealing on film - always some grandiose dress or victorian garb. Well that's finally changing. Knightley will be starring alongside Eva Mendes in a modern-timed piece called "Last Night".
So that's two hotties in one flick, which is more than enough to take the $$ out of my wallet.
I'm sure you're all getting tired of me talking about Sherlock Holmes... but just in case you aren't we have the latest casting tidbit. Now it seems like Jude Law is going to costar along-side Downey as Watson. A bit more believable than Colin Ferrell.
Martin Scorsese is directing a movie tentatively titled "Bert and Ernie", starring Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci. You can catch the first clip below.

There's more I can post... but this thing has slowly been developing throughout this busy work day. More next week.

The story follows a married couple, apart for a night while the husband takes a business trip with a colleague to whom he’s attracted. While he’s resisting temptation, his wife encounters her past love. |
