Sarah Connor, Ghostbusters, Sherlock, Inb4TLDR

So things got busy for me late last week. Didn't precisely have time to do a blog entry at all so this may be a loooong one.

Okay so first thing is first. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles comes back tonight and the word on the streets is its amazing, the best episode since the premiere. Catch it tonight (or DVR, whatever) on Fox at 8pm your local time.

That brings me to the point that its finally September, and lots of shows are coming back. I'll be sure to note the ones I, in particular, like and will keep you all apprised. Shows like Chuck, Heroes, Fringe, Sarah Connor, The Office... All things I'm sure you'll hear about.

Guillermo del Toro is someone I keep bringing up again and again, largely because of his involvement in The Hobbit, but also mentioned a few times recently because of Hellboy 2. I imagine I'll be talking about him much more as time goes on with the workload he's already contracted himself to. Starting with "The Hobbit", after finishing that his next projects are with Universal... doing a remake of "Frankenstein" and "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"... both of which kinda touch on my "Movies that Hollywood Never Needs to Touch"... but that's another topic. The last he's signed up to do with Universal is The last is an adaptation of a novel called "Drood", which is, and I quote:

...a novel by Dan Simmons about Charles Dickens as a depraved muderer in London.
Let me just say...wtf?

So It turns out the recent rumors about a new Ghostbusters are in fact true. The script is in the works and looks to be in some capable hands. The original group will be returning (Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson) and the story is apparently centering around the retirement of the team and them training the some "Junior" Ghostbusters to take over the reigns. It just so happens that the team working on the film over at Columbia happen to be Judd Apatow's bunch of hooligans... and seeing how he has a pretty common pool of actors he pulls from, could this mean that our "Junior" Ghostbusters are going to be from his little company of actors? Seth Rogen? Paul Rudd? Sacha Baron Cohen? Will Ferrell? Only time will tell.

The chick in the pic has nothing to do with the project, but this blog entry lacked imagery.

No offense to anyone Canadian but I hate your country right now... and not for any of the usual reasons.

Everyone loves Evil Dead, whether they admit it to themselves or not... so starting with that, and the aforementioned hatred of Canada, we have the worst thing ever conceived: Evil Dead: The Musical. Now this is nothing new, but I first heard about it when my sister went to Canada recently (just this past June) and saw it. Why am I bringing it up in this blog? Because someone wants to make a movie out of it. Negotiations between the Producer who brought Chicago to the big screen are underway with Sam Raimi.

So I touched on a tidbit of news that Russell Crowe was going to be in the new Sherlock Holmes flick by Guy Ritchie. Well it turned out that might not be the case.... but then it turned out that it may. The original news was that he'd play 2nd fiddle to Robert Downey Jr. as Watson. That was apparently debunked in favor of him playing opposite Downey as Professor Moriarty. Sounds slightly more Crowe-ish to me, especially after today's news that Ritchie plans to make the movie a bit more action oriented than we'd expect.

Will Smith is working on his next project, titled "The Last Pharaoh". Written by the dude who penned Braveheart, the story is about Taharqa, the pharaoh who battled Assyrian invaders in ancient Egypt.

Last up is Max Payne, which has been branded by the MPAA with an R rating... which the director is calling massive bullshit on. While he's genuinely obligated to deliver a PG-13 rated flick, he's going out of his way to bash on Warner Bros, The Dark Knight, and the MPAA over the matter. His film, which he doesn't consider any more violent or graphic as The Dark Knight, is getting slammed hard just because his studio doesn't, and I quote, "suck the MPAA's cock" like Warner Bros does. Should be an interesting appeal process.

Sarah Connor was pretty good last night, although I may have overhyped my expectations based on what I had been reading. It was a good episode but didn't blow my mind or anything.
