Galactica Pushed Back, Russell Crowe, & Thanks

Just a couple days ago on the 29th of August I posted some figures for the box office. As of Labor Day it seems that Batman broke the $500 million mark that we've all been expecting it to for some time... and in half the time that it took Titanic to. Unfortunately we live in a different day and age than previously... movies leave theaters much faster and are released into our homes much sooner, so any chances I think this movie has at surpassing Titanic in theaters is fairly hopeless.
While on the subject of Batman, I'd just like to say that I'm getting pretty sick and tired of all these villain casting rumors that have been floating around. They're dumb, pointless, and a complete waste of everyone's time. So hearing officially from someone that they aren't doing Batman makes me somewhat happy because maybe it'll make these morons cool their jets until official pre-production begins. Johnny Depp, who's been heralded as being in casting talks for The Riddler, was in an unrelated interview (skip ahead to around 3:45) recently when the topic came up. And while he acknowledged it might be fun, he has not been approached or been in talks to do any Batman related works.

So on to headline one... A while back Battlestar Galactica decided it was going to take a break before concluding the final season... a full year's break... the show being slated to return (according to Sci-Fi) in January of 2009. Things change, as we all know, and BSG isn't any type of exception to this. Info has been seeping out of Sci-Fi and some of the BSG cast/crew that the show will not be returning until April/May, the most recent info coming from panels at "DragonCon" (I suppose a Comic-Con like event?).
Your guess is as good as mine for the reasoning, but its being speculated that the "Caprica" TV-movie/pilot is probably the reason, with Sci-Fi wanting to catch BSG'ers on that before airing the end of the series.
I'll be sure to keep you all appraised.
Are you all ready for more bullet curving? I'd personally hope not... but we're in for more apparently. Wanted 2 is pushing through some rather speedy pre-production it seems with work on the script going through at this time. Considering that everyone died in the first, I'm not sure where precisely they'll go on from this point... and I can't say I care. It'll take an act of God (or my girlfriend) to get me in that theater.
So I think the news on this either started to break out while I took my AFK from Tankspot or I just never thought to bring it up... but Guy Ritchie, everyone's favorite director that they only hear about because he's married to Madonna (which is unfortunate, because he's done some good stuff), has a project in progress right now... a new Sherlock Holmes. Now this actually caught my attention around post-Ironman time when it was rumored that Robert Downey Jr. was being cast in the role of Sherlock... it was later confirmed that he'd be dawning the cap, violin, and pipe. Pretty interesting casting decision, I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on the movie for that alone... but especially after this new tidbit, bringing the name of Russell Crowe in to the movie playing Dr. Watson. I'm not sure what to think at this point... except that this movie may indeed rock.
And moving on to something a bit more disheartening, Don LaFontaine, infamous voice over artist, passed away this weekend after 40 years of work in film, tv, commercials, etc. From his work on the movie trailers of Friday the 13th, to The Elephant Man, The Terminator, Terminator 2, Batman Returns, to video game trailers, and even TV commercials... he truly will remain a timeless legend in the industry and will be missed.
Finally, my thanks. When I came back to posting to this blog I was pretty damn astonished at the feedback I started getting in comments and PMs, welcoming my little self-entertaining posts with people asking questions and everything. So thanks for making my posting here feel all the more worth the time I spend. As a thanks, I'm going to start dedicating a blog entry a week towards digging for information or answering questions on the movies that you all specifically want. Want feedback on a flick? I'll be more than happy to provide it. Got a favorite franchise (film or tv) that I happen to skip over? I'll go ahead and pull the info up on that (but if you ask for Twilight, you can go shove your head in a trash compactor).

| | It gives a different flavor and people enjoy it....and you do a good job with it. This place might get a little boring is we talked about nothing but tanking. The 'Off-topic' forum is active and even though Cider may dream of shield slams, he's a frequent poster there. keep up the good work and I will continue to annoy you with Batman casting posts and quasi related youtube clips :P |

| | As my head is frequently shaven anyway... And my gf will love me if I have anything to say about it... Any Twilight news? Also, wtb BSG, pass on Wanted 2, and I'm really hoping The Dark Knight does a re-release around winter time and finally topples Titanic. |

| | I haven't even see the first Wanted yet. And I will at some point because I have an unnatural attraction to Angelina Jolie. |

| | Twilight is the first book in a series of Vampire love stories or something like that. They are hugely popular among woman right now, even though the books are more targeted towards teenagers. To the point that I had to go out and find a copy of the latest book at like 11:00 at night. >.< Here's the author's link http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/Stephenie Meyer I think Velhym is pretty burned from reading rumors and whatnot about a movie adaptation. |

| | My wife tried to tell me about it once I think but I'm pretty sure I was doing something more important at the time. You know, like listening to myself breathe. |

| | My ears are still ringing from having to sit through the Twilight panel at Comic Con in order to see actually good stuff that followed it. |
