Nolan Done, Tintin, Shatner, & Promised Bond Stuff

Ever since Comic Con, buzz has been flying about like crazy over the new flick The Watchmen (trailer link) and I'd say it's well deserved buzz. The movie looks interesting, to say the least, and it'll be the first "Hard R" superhero movie we've gotten.
With that said... Watchmen is in a bit of legal trouble. I first wrote about this on a forum a few weeks back but its still pretty hot news. The issue here is fairly complex, but can be described quite simply... Warner Bros is making Watchmen... but according to 20th Century Fox, they still hold the rights to the movie. Like I said, the gist is simple to get to but its a pretty complex issue... The New York Times has a decent article on the matter here. Worth checking out. The TLDR version is basically that, despite Watchmen being pretty much done, Fox (if they win) can prevent the movie from ever being released.
So on to our first headline... Christopher Nolan is an evil bastard. Sure he made The Dark Knight, which instantly propels him to success levels every director dreams of, but while everyone has been busy counting money and speculating on the next Batman villain... it turns out that Nolan hasn't even said there will be one, and in fact isn't even contracted to do another. WTF is my response to that. Legendary and Warner need to get that man seated and talking about his next Batman flick like right now.
There are plenty of under appreciated actors out there... ones that simply don't get noticed like they should. One of them, in my opinion, is Woody Harrelson... especially after his kick ass job in No Country For Old Men. Someone shares my opinion it seems and it looks like Harrelson has signed on to do a new movie called Zombieland. 1) Yes, its a horror movie. 2) No, he probably won't kill zombies with an air compressor gun. 3) It is apparently a comedy. Looking forward to more on this.
So I dug and dug for Quantum of Solace news... The only things I may have not mentioned were the Trailer, which I'm too lazy to check and see if I did forget so whatever, its good and watch it anyways... and that the movie is being pushed back.
A week.
So I have no idea why, but whatever. A week doesn't seem like a long time.
I feel one of the most promising directors in the world right now is Edgar Wright (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz). Things just keep getting better, bigger, and grander for him and it makes me very happy. Its no surprise then that he has a pretty high profile flick in the works... Apparently Marvel has him writing/directing Ant-Man... and he's actually done with his first script. Here's what he has to say:
He goes on to say that Marvel has seen the draft and is apparently very happy with it, which based on the quality standards set with Hulk and Iron Man... must be good.
You know a news day is slow when the only thing a director has to say about his project is that he's still doing it and that nothing has changed even though, to my knowledge, no one said it had.
That's all there is to say about Tintin... the new trilogy being co-directed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson... Well, to be exact, Spielberg is directing the first, Jackson the second, then they're co-directing the third. For those that don't know what I'm talking about, Tintin is about "the adventures of popular Belgian comic-strip hero Tintin and his faithful dog Snowy". Doesn't seem that interesting to me, but the combined power of Spielberg's beard and Jackson's beard behind a camera is guaranteed to turn out something epic.
So closing with some more Star Trek related news. JJ Abrams was in an interview regarding his new show "Fringe", which I saw the pilot of at Comic Con and it looks pretty damn intriguing and definitely worth watching/dvr'ing when the fall comes around... *takes in breath* but the topic of Star Trek naturally came up. It was confirmed a little while ago that Leonard Nimoy has some sort of guest appearance in the movie... and since then its been said that Shatner will also be appearing. JJ silenced that rumor once and for all, stating clearly that Nimoy is the only returning actor from prior Treks to this movie.

| | Bill Shatner is too busy Frostshocking hotel and air fare prices. They are running out of big name super heroes to make movies about, well, at least Marvel is. Antman? mmkay.... When I was a kid, I liked Hawkeye, wonder if he'll ever make it into a movie? I certainly hope they continue the Batman series....I read an article today stating some rumored casting options. Cat woman : Cher (seriously! Except she'd be like an old cat woman) Riddler: Johnny Depp Penguin: Phillip Seymour Thomas don't remember who else. Christian Bale was quoted in the story though so it wasn't 100% people talking out of thier ass. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,410603,00.html |

| | Those are all just rumors. Like I said, no work on a third has even started yet so there can't actually be casting in the works. O_o |

| | I like movies. ^_^ I need to hurry up and move where all my friends are. I don't have anyone in town to see movies with, and get pretty lazy about dragging my ass out to see one solo. I made an exception for The Dark Knight and it was worth it. |

| | Err, when was the last worthwhile project Spielberg has been involved with? With the sole exception of Band of Brothers, he's been on a downhill slide for 20 years. |
