I'm a dps Now.

My computer decided to stop working a month ago. I don't have the money to replace it. Never got any warranty for whatever reason. I was the third tank in our little tanking crew. My Fury set is very solid so I switch out on fights that don't require me. My guilds generally short 1 or 2 people anyways so I volunteered to stay on as Fury. Now I'm not the best at Fury on the best occasions. Playing on my laptop was not going to help things.
So I officially changed my "main spec" to dps so I could bid for main spec on items. Little background on the loot system. Its a type of priority system. Like dkp, points are awarded for showing up to raid on time, flasks, gemmed/enchanted appropriately. Mine didn't get carried over from my previous raids as I switched my main spec.
So we're rolling along I'm doing my thing. Only warrior in the raid. I have to keep sunders up on boss fights. Not a big deal generally. Slower computer means my dps is going to be lower then it normally is. Now we are getting close to the end of the raid. Heading to Ignis. Of course Worldcarver drops. I put up a bid. I win. I beat out a DK. Now this DK is notorious for showing up to raids late without notice. I didn't feel like I didn't deserve the loot. I was pleased I had been rewarded.
Now after the raid I put every effort to getting Berserker enchanted on it for the continuiation raid the next day. I'm about to log and I get a tell from the DK. He says "You took one of the best weapons in game from one of the top dps in raid." I respond "I won it fairly. It'll drop again. Now I'm wondering where exactly this is all leading. If he calls me out I need to stay calm. Several seconds pass. I get a wall of text. "That axe should of gone to me. I out dps you on nearly every fight. You take gear from more deserving people and you think its fair." I type "Maybe if you showed a little more effort and dedication it would have gone to you. If I didn't earn it fairly it wouldn't have gone to me." He responds quickly with "Good bye baddy." then goes offline.
I'm left thinking about what to do. Now he's been in guild longer then I have but I enjoy raiding with everyone. I speak to an officer about what occurred. I was tempted to gquit and he new it and made me see the bigger picture. He told me to wait speak to the guild master and raid leader. So I wait. They log on the next day and we have a chat on vent. They explain to me that he has done this exact thing to several other members before. He gets kicked out and I can't help feeling bad. He was a good asset in a raid setting but his personnality was pretty bad.
I just hope this doesn't destroy my relations with my remaining guild members. The DK has made sure to tell as many guild members what happened. If this guild is really meant to progress we need to get those kinds of people out of the guild. We can't have jealous and immature raiders that bicker amongst each other. I'm equilly guilty of that as he is. Anyways hopefully things continue onwards. Hopefully we will get out first glimpse of Vezax this week.

The DK was simply thinking of himself and not the raid. He was removed thusly. You did the right thing by consulting the leadership, and the leadership did the right thing to remove him.
Look at it this way: if he's top dps, then he doesn't need as much upgrades, he's pulling food from the starving so he can have a fourth helping.
The fact that you won on DKP leaves very little room for arguement, as it's design is to reward the raiders that are there, and give each fight their all. If he wanted it and had more dkp, then he could have bid more (depending on system) if he didn't have enough - then he should be less of a diva and more of a team player.
Don't worry your head about it. The raid sounds like it's healing well after its DK ego-ectomy.Posted 07-02-2009 at 09:13 PM by Conreeaght

Just ignore it, it no way are you in the wrong for taking a drop for you main spec. The leadership can see that and so will the rest of the guild.Posted 07-03-2009 at 02:06 AM by Gordonoth

My assumptions are that this DK is a good player. or atleast (I think) you think so. pressing gcd abilties in a game huh? ^_^
anyway, I've encountered this several times in guilds, people that actually know they're ''good'' try to push it to the limit, they often have a big mouth and stress officers.
The officers in return know that they can't really kick this guy because hes a good player.. eventually this will break certain guilds, because of one person..
Your officers did the right thing 'For the guild!'
As Conreeaght said, the DK was only thinking about himself.
Tough to say, but I was this way in TBC.. some people said I was a good tank,, boosted my ego, I ran a lot of HC's with some BT gear etc. henceforth I went mental for the smallest of things, which is very, very bad. (:<) Arrogant MainTank Syndrom ;x
all in all, you should _not_ worry about your guild relations tbh, if any, the good people and loyal guildies will back you up in this, if not.. it's another problem ;OPosted 07-03-2009 at 02:10 AM by Sirq

Loot systems are in place for a reason.
People that just try to drive the drama up in their own favour have a kick coming. I am still amazed about the amount of immature stuff going on everywhere.
Don't feel bad. You cannot blame yourself for the actions of someone else, only do that if you think your reactions were unjustified or if you did something wrong. However, if you take a step back you'll clearly see in this case it wasn't exactly you.Posted 07-03-2009 at 04:16 AM by Aethelas
