Spec'ial Discrimination?... naah!
So, after some bad experiences on TK today (yesterday more like it lol) with my guild, mainly due to people not focusing and not taking the run seriously, i started doing some BG's fury spec'ed (17/44 with Piercing Howl, i know it's not the best PvE spec, but i make it work :P). And then i started to think: "Why not make a 3v3 as Kaz did, if it worked for him, why not me?
".
After a couple of minutes of watching my gear setup to maximize PvP stats, i started asking around. NOT ONE single person i talked to wanted to do arenas with a fury warrior. Then i talked to an old friend (decent warrior), and he asked me: "What can you do that no other class can't already do" and... well, he got me on that one. Fury warriors have 0 viability on arenas besides the same viability an MS warrior has without the debuff. Granted, they can dish out damage... but so does an MS warrior (OMG PVP Damagemeter!)
So... how can i break that preconception that "fury warriors = tehs0x0rz" on arenas? How can i show people that there's actually decent players beyond the gear we, fury warriors, have, and that we're not the pariahs (dunno if i said it correctly) that people tend to think we are. If you have an answer, then you're smarter than me. Until i figure out how to do that, i'll stick to spending 100g to do Arenas i guess
Later ^^

| | well its always possible you are right and all the other experienced WOW pvp'ers are wrong. But finding 2-4 other people who will believe that could be tough. The MS Debuff makes a huge difference, it's a monster drain on the healers mana. Fury probably offers 10% better dps without the benefit of burst damage - so what do you think why should a team be built around a Fury warrior when MS is so clearly superior? |

| | im not a pvper but from what i see fury just doesn't turn the tide where as MS can make or break a match. Arena is largely about living in more than 2v2 even in 2v2 resilience seems to be the way to go (though ive been pvping as ret in pve gear obviously losing).. Fury = intercept stun, intervene, piercing howl (also possible to get as arms pvp but its not 'that' useful' Arms = MS why take bread when you can take cake? As someone who likes to bend the rules i will say this: try healer rogue or healer warrior those are the type of 3v3s ret paladins are advised to try so guess it could work..healer warrior would mean hamstringx2 and commshout and battle shout so i think that may work ok... Im not a pvper so |

| | Good healers and resilence cause Flurry and the lack of the MS debuff to really hurt. I mean, if you're a good player and outplay people, more power to you. But cookie cutters are there for a very good reason: They work. The core of Fury DPS really is Flurry (and Bloodthirst). Flurry is rendered less and less useful as average opponent resilence keeps climbing. If you factor in the fact that the effective health of PvPers is huge due to high stamina, you're looking at trying to burst down 10k hp opponents when a Disc priest can have a Healing-Per-Second that puts Fury dps to shame. Rampage is too difficult to keep up consistently, and that's another disadvantage that Fury can ill-afford. In addition, the lack of Improved Intercept is another factor. The 4pc bonus benefits tremendously from having Imp Intercept. 5secs off a 30sec cooldown is 16% reduction. 5secs off a 20sec cooldown is 25% reduction. Add 3 sec of stun and the numbers skew even further in favor of Imp Intercept. |

| | Find a couple of friends with nothing else to do and give it a go. Yes, MS is more powerful that fury in arena. Its like being a rogue but not at all sneaky and a fairly easy target. So? I did enough arena to get the season 2 shield as full prot...with an MS warrior as my partner. Oh, we had our moments and went 7-3 one week but we sucked. If you want to be 2200, well, spec aside, it not going to happen right out of the box anyhow, but its going to take the right cookie cutter spec to get onto that team. You can dish out the damage and compete, though, but you'll have to start with tempered expectations and feel your way around a bit with some friends. |
