How things change, pt2

By the time TBC was rolling around I'd had a lot more practice and was a bit more knowledgeable about my class. My friends and I that had all split up, some to other guilds and some to other servers decided to get back together and all transfer to one of the new servers they were opening up in anticipation of the expansion. It was really nice to get to play with some of the people I hadn't been able to regularly group with over the prior year due to everyone's confilcting raid schedules and we leveled together. It was a blast.

Once we hit 70 the raiding started again. Of my group of friends that transferred, one of us was a member of a guild that had done a mass transfer to the new server. We all joined up so we could raid together, and after all, we didn't have anything else going on.

Oh Karazhan, how I loathe tanking you. Of course we started running it as soon as we could get an acceptable mix of people keyed and geared up in our rares. I've got a screenshot I like to look at of the first time I went in there. Two warriors, two mages, two locks, a rogue, a priest, a paladin and a druid. We one shot Attumen and moved onto Moroes. He pretty much kicked our butts that first night but we came back the next and downed him before moving on to Maiden. Looking back, I think we could have done her that first week if we had had a better strategy, but we didn't. So after a few wipes on her we called it and celebrated our first victorious foray into a TBC raid. It was never so fun again.

Fast forward a couple of months. The guild is running two regular Kara groups through each week. We want to get everyone geared up to break into the 25 man content. This is where the problem really started for me. At the time, the guild had four pretty active tanks. Two warriors, a paladin and a druid. I usually ran with the paladin as an OT and the other group usually ran with the druid as their OT. Now that we can finally go through and clear the whole place out, it is time to start getting more people involved so we can move up to the bigger stuff. So while the dps got their stuff and rotated out, the healers got their stuff and rotated out, the tanks got their stuff and kept running it over and over and over. Hey, I'm getting to raid and that's what I love to do so it's all good right?

We are getting some Gruul's lair action going and want to start pushing into the t5 content. As is normal we've had some turnover. People move on and new ones come along. Some are always going to better than others, but that's just how it is. I'm all t4'd up and quite a few of our regular raiders are as well but we are still running those Karazhan's (with pretty much the same four tanks for the most part) so we can get the new people up to speed.

The guild pushes into the t5 content, we're jumping back and forth between SSC and TK to hit those easy bosses for the easy upgrades at first. We're getting better and focusing more on one instance or the other in an effort to push in farther. Definately not the fastest progression on the server, but we are getting it done.

My thoughts were "too many tall jobs," so it just goes to show.
