Will ZA Have a place in our progression?

I've spent a lot of time over the last few days thinking about whether or not ZA should be included in our projected progression schedule. This is something I need to resolve before taking the final steps in starting the guild.

The current plan is to work through Karazhan with 2-3 teams until:
1. We clear Karazhan. We'll likely have lots of people who need gear from here, and it gives us something to do while waiting for the guild to fill out.
2. We have sufficient raiders to begin tackling the 25-man content.

On the one hand, it'd keep us busy if we clear Karazhan before we fill the guild. It would provide a nice set of challenges to hone our skills, continue learning about working with each other and test whether we have what it takes to progress in later content.

On the other hand, it is a very difficult instance, and if we have the resources to raid 25-mans then ZA really isn't worth worrying about; it's much more important that we get into Gruul's, Mag's and the t5 raids.

I would like to clear it eventually though. Having raid bosses still standing in our wake isn't a very appealing prospect. It might be more doable later on down the line, or maybe if we have a spare night in our schedule for a couple of weeks. In a way, though, it seems rather counter-productive to break an experienced 25-man team into 10-mans for a one-off raid when we could be tackling new 25-man content.

I think what I'll probably do is leave it off the menu officially, but it will still stand as a possible alternative if we have time for a few weeks to play with it, or if we hit a serious brick wall and it becomes an appealing source of gearing opportunities.

Yeah, I pretty much agree.

As a 25man raiding guild, your main focus should be 25man raids.

But, you're never going to be raiding 7 days a week. So let guildies do it during that time, if they want. If they want is the important part. Since they're not guild sanctioned raids, no guild politics should come into runs. Make sure everyone knows in advance that the raid leader is the person in charge of the runs.

While it's true that you should make sure that the RL'ers understand that they have to be resonable at all times, it's not your job to hold every members hand, just in case they get their feelings hurt. Support your RL'ers to create an environment people in the raid enjoy. Offer to help 'if they think they need it'. People wont run with them if it's not enjoyable.

When it comes down to it, it's the RL'ers decision to decide who he wants to take, run things how he wants to run. Don't try to force anything.

Honestly, the best function of ZA will be to keep your top folks engaged while the rest of your guild gears out in Kara. Most guilds will have a core group of people that will jump on a raid any and every time it's an option. Other players will be more casual, making the raids one week, but not the next.

You will have a group that is fully geared for 25 man content that will be anxiously waiting for the rest of the guild to catch up. Take that group to ZA. It will certainly help with serious group coordination fights. Heck, just clearing the trash to the eagle boss and dragonhawk boss will do that. I will also keep them from getting bored and jumping ship to a guild already running SSC and The Eye.

In terms of gearing up, no ZA should not feature prominently in your progression. Honestly, by the time you can beat the sacrifice timers and eventually clear ZA, you won't need the gear from there. It is useful for 10 man groups that don't quite have 25 people ready for advanced raiding.
