"How can you be a protection warrior at level one?" I hear you all asking. It's a matter of heart. Of drive. Of the mentality of a protection warrior.

Leveling from 1-70 while protection specced was a pain, but it allowed me to practice my tanking skills on the way to 70. I tanked everything from VC to Gnomer to BRD, on up through all of the Burning Crusade instances as I leveled through them. And now I find myself the warrior tank in my small guild of friends who is the best geared, and is one of the go-to guys when we do our ZA attempts.

Being prot at heart has its advantages.

So, after a Heroic BF run with some guildies last night, it seems I'm a little rusty on my multi-tanking. Our healer died many times (sorry Zarindora).

By the end I had gotten some of my multi-tanking effectiveness back, but I think I still need some more practice. I'm not sure what I'm practicing for, as we usually have a prot pally going in to any raid, and they tank the trash. But I feel that in the interest of being a well-developed tank, I should get some more practice on tanking...

I just finished a pretty quick Heroic Mech run, during which we only wiped once (due to an ill-timed sleep on yours truly). It had been a while since I'd actually tanked anything, due to the fact that I've been working evenings. Apparently the game wants me to continue to neglect sleep, because my Sun Eater dropped. I'm not terribly sure I'll use it (much), because I currently have Quickening Blade of the Prince. I don't currently have a distinct survival set and threat set, but this may be the...

DPS: Two-hander vs. Dual-wield

When off-tanks aren't needed to tank anything, usually on single-mob boss fights, they turn into DPS. We all know this. Assuming said off-tank is a protection warrior, we can assume they have Devastate. Most of the time, they will also have One-Handed Weapon Specialization - increasing the damage done while wielding a one-handed melee weapon by 10%.

Devastate is a pretty awesome DPS ability. Not quite as awesome as Bloodthirst,
but it will do for us prot warrior who are forced...
