"How can you be a protection warrior at level one?" I hear you all asking. It's a matter of heart. Of drive. Of the mentality of a protection warrior.

Leveling from 1-70 while protection specced was a pain, but it allowed me to practice my tanking skills on the way to 70. I tanked everything from VC to Gnomer to BRD, on up through all of the Burning Crusade instances as I leveled through them. And now I find myself the warrior tank in my small guild of friends who is the best geared, and is one of the go-to guys when we do our ZA attempts.

Being prot at heart has its advantages.

Missed Naxx

Posted 01-16-2009 at 12:14 PM by Thireas (Protcore!)

I showed up for Naxx, ready and rearin' to go. However, we had four tanks online looking to go in. So, we do our traditional /roll for a spot, and no luck for me.

But wait, we might have enough people online for a second raid! And it would be me and Garthin tanking side-by-side! Score! (He's the best-geared tank in the guild, one of our current raid leaders, and a friend of mine).

So, we put together a second group, and realize that we have exactly four people for that...

On CSS Polymorphism (not about WoW at all)

As the title says, this isn't about WoW or tanking at all. I'm a web developer by trade, and I've been running into this issue with Cascading Style Sheets and how CSS rules are overridden. I don't really have a place I can tell people about things I find out about web development and design and the various technologies associated with it, but I have this 'blog. I know some of you deal with CSS and such on a regular basis, and this might be useful for somebody out there.

So, to start...

Grats to the Mageroyal Syndicate

Posted 10-24-2008 at 08:30 AM by Thireas (Protcore!)

My guild cleared ZA last night, for the first time. I haven't had any word as to how long it took, or any loot that dropped, but we now have the screen shots in our ZA Mortuary thread on our forums.

Yeah, I was off having real-life fun at a concert. It kinda sucks that I wasn't there for the kills, but hey... I got to see one of my favorite bands for only $5.00

I can only hope that this doesn't kill all the enthusiasm for ZA, as I'd like another shot at Malacrass...

WoW and Boredom

Posted 09-29-2008 at 08:46 AM by Thireas (Protcore!)

I've been kind of bored with WoW lately. I wasn't leveling my shaman, and I wasn't doing anything with my warrior except for raiding once a week (at most... ZA didn't go off last week). I've even become bored with Brewfest already. Then two things happened.

First, I respecced my shaman. I went Resto, and started healing instances. So easy, and yet so fun. As long as the tank is the only one taking damage, all I have to do is throw the occasional Healing Wave and keep Earth Shield...

WoW and Identity

Posted 08-27-2008 at 09:23 PM by Thireas (Protcore!)

I've noticed something when people are talking or writing about WoW, and in particular their own characters. People tend to talk in the first person about their toons - I'm sure you've all noticed this. But what fascinates me is that they tend to set a point of reference at one character, speak in the first person when referring to that character, and then refer to other characters on their account in the third person.

For example, say I'm talking about my warrior. I will say things...
