"How can you be a protection warrior at level one?" I hear you all asking. It's a matter of heart. Of drive. Of the mentality of a protection warrior.

Leveling from 1-70 while protection specced was a pain, but it allowed me to practice my tanking skills on the way to 70. I tanked everything from VC to Gnomer to BRD, on up through all of the Burning Crusade instances as I leveled through them. And now I find myself the warrior tank in my small guild of friends who is the best geared, and is one of the go-to guys when we do our ZA attempts.

Being prot at heart has its advantages.

"Rotation"

I haven't tanked much since the patch. I'm just getting that out there. About the only thing I've tanked is the Headless Horseman, which, as we all know, is a cinch. But it still gives some insight on tanking rotation. I'm going to assume you have Sword and Board. It's a no-brainer, and if you don't have it, you should get it. Honestly, not much has changed, and a lot of people will find this to be a pretty useless post, but without further ado, here's the GCD rotation.

1. If Shield...

WoW and Boredom

Posted 09-29-2008 at 08:46 AM by Thireas (Protcore!)

I've been kind of bored with WoW lately. I wasn't leveling my shaman, and I wasn't doing anything with my warrior except for raiding once a week (at most... ZA didn't go off last week). I've even become bored with Brewfest already. Then two things happened.

First, I respecced my shaman. I went Resto, and started healing instances. So easy, and yet so fun. As long as the tank is the only one taking damage, all I have to do is throw the occasional Healing Wave and keep Earth Shield...

Magtheridon Down

Posted 09-21-2008 at 02:51 PM by Thireas (Protcore!)

It took us three real tries. One of our PuGgers accidentally aggro'd before we were ready, so that was a fake try. The first real try, we got him down to 2% and I got crushed for 7.6k. It sucks, but it happens, I guess. I was spamming Shield Block as hard as I could, but I guess he slipped one through.

The second try, I picked up Mag when he released, and got no active healing. I had Earth Shield up, as well as a stack of Lifebloom, but that wasn't enough to take the 9k cleave....

Magtheridion

Posted 09-15-2008 at 07:50 AM by Thireas (Protcore!)

So, apparently, there is less than a week left until the Mageroyal Syndicate takes on Magtheridion. It's kind of hard to tell, because there has been significantly less fanfare involved as compared to our Gruul run. Nobody's really talking about Mags, and there are only 10 or so signed up for the raid. Which, honestly, makes me wonder if it will go off.

Anyway, in preparation, I will likely be going about things in approximately the same manner as I did for Gruuls. Instead of an unstable...

My Picture, and Updates

Posted 09-09-2008 at 04:46 PM by Thireas (Protcore!)

I seem to have lost my avatar, and I don't know how to get it back. I have a profile picture, but no avatar (which shows next to my posts and comments).

In other news, this week will apparently be a Kara run for my guild. My girlfriend will be running on her priest, so I'll be relegated to doing something non-WoW. Oh well, whatever. Maybe I'll play guitar or write or read or something.

I would like to PuG some Kara at some point, though. I don't really do it with the...
