"How can you be a protection warrior at level one?" I hear you all asking. It's a matter of heart. Of drive. Of the mentality of a protection warrior.

Leveling from 1-70 while protection specced was a pain, but it allowed me to practice my tanking skills on the way to 70. I tanked everything from VC to Gnomer to BRD, on up through all of the Burning Crusade instances as I leveled through them. And now I find myself the warrior tank in my small guild of friends who is the best geared, and is one of the go-to guys when we do our ZA attempts.

Being prot at heart has its advantages.

Priceless

Last night I ran Heroic Ramps with a few guildies and a PuGger. The only CC was a hunter, and his traps had this nasty tendency to get resisted, so I said "screw it" and didn't use CC. Our healer was undergeared, our DPS was low (I out DPS'd two of them, according to my meters), and one of us had never been through the instance.

The following resources were consumed:
  • 9 [item]Super Healing Potion[/item]
  • 6 +20 Stam Food
  • 52g in repairs
  • 3 hours
The following resources...

I guess it's just an update from the world of the Mageroyal Syndicate's main warrior tank.

Gruul's Lair
MRS is supposed to be going into Gruul's for the second time tonight. However, there are only 14 people signed up, and PuGging 11 probably isn't a good idea. I think we're going to see who's on, and who's interested, and then we'll go from there.

On one hand, there's a big chance we won't be going into Gruul's. I really enjoyed tanking HKM and Gruul, and I'd like to do

Quick Poll

Posted 08-01-2008 at 10:15 AM by Thireas (Protcore!)

Since I don't think we can really do polls, just reply in the comments.

Do you know the real life names of your guildies, and to what extent?

In my guild, if someone joins, it's expected that they'll put their RL name in their guild note. It's just the way we operate: as a group of friends who happen to play WoW together (and other things - I'm playing D&D 4E with some of them tonight (more on that later)). This isn't to say that I know all of these people in real life,...

Why Do YOU Raid?

Posted 07-23-2008 at 07:22 AM by Thireas (Protcore!)

... assuming, of course, that you raid.

In one of Alent's recent posts, he mentions that he raids "primarily for the camaraderie and to help everyone". There were a few comments on the subject, and I got the feeling that there were quite a lot of different reasons that various TankSpot members raid. I can think of a few possibilities off the top of my head:

  • Gear
  • Recognition
  • Camaraderie
  • New Content
  • Help People
  • Fun
etc...

So, why do you...

Not in the Mood

Posted 07-15-2008 at 07:04 AM by Thireas (Protcore!)

Have you ever raided when you didn't really want to raid? You know, you'd rather read or go do something physical for a change, or play a console game, but there's one slot left, and the raid won't go off if you don't step up?

Well, that's what happened to me with Kara last night, and it made the big castle of fun into not so much fun. I was bored, I felt like we could have been moving faster, I was a little frustrated with offtanking the trash, even though I know the pally tank is...
