The Pace Makes the Raid

Tonight, the Mageroyal Syndicate did some Karazhan, and we rocked it all the way to Shade of Aran. Not bad for about 2.5 hours.

  • Attumen - one shot
  • Moroes - one shot
  • Maiden - one shot
  • Romulo and Julianne - one shot
  • Curator - one shot
  • Illhoof - one shot
  • Shade of Aran - one shot
Now, having two warrior tanks, instead of our usual combination of warrior and pally, made the AoE groups a pain. Mostly for the warlocks, Darzen and Jurus. And the mage, Zoonzonzil. They died a few times. It happens.

Despite this, I managed to keep the group in combat a good amount of the time. I've been working on keeping the downtime between pulls to a minimum, and I think it shows. In fact, I would recommend that every tank out there keep the pulls coming as long as the healers have mana. This makes you look like a more effective tank, even if your threat isn't quite what it could be (and it never is - as Veneretio says, your threat is never fine).

Seriously, though. As long as nobody needs a rez, and the healers have mana, keep pulling. Everybody will appreciate getting through the trash faster, and you'll get to the fun part (the bosses) faster.

Try it. You'll like it.

A little story about tonight's Attumen:
The fact that we downed Attumen tonight actually kind of speaks to how well we work as a guild.

No, really. Yes, Attumen is easy mode. Yes, there's no reason we shouldn't down him in a normal situation. But this wasn't a normal situation.

We were finishing up the last mob of the pull before Midnight, and all of the sudden, out of the blue, there's Midnight, trotting up to one of our healers. Luckily, I got a hit in on her before she inevitably one-shotted said healer. I led her back to the stable, and we proceeded to do Attumen. Since I already had the threat on Midnight, I tanked her while Guenther, my off-tank, picked up Attumen. Apparently something went wrong, though, and the dwarven warrior died, and I had to tank them both. Fun! I kept threat on both of them until they combined (they weren't terribly far off... 20% or so, I think). From there on out, it was a clean kill.
How's that for chain-pulling?
Also:
I did pretty well DPSing Shade.

Tell them to count slowly to 3 before starting aoe, or it's their own fault they died. :-)

sounds like a nice run. To me getting through trash as fast as possible is just as important as one shotting bosses.

Boss encounters are the most fun when everything goes to hell in a handbasket.

Doing ZA last night, I'm tanking bear form and the Pally has the troll.

At about 40% my brand new computer decides to give me a blue screen of death, one that encompasses both monitors and demands a restart. Ack!

Jump over to old computer, swap out the mouse to the gaming mouse, fire up WoW and log on the wrong toon! Ack!

Log in the right toon and as I come in I see a pile of pally lying there and a rogue tanking the troll!

Taunt and off we go to one shot and finish the 3 boss run with 7 min left on timer lol.

This is why you never call a wipe until everyone is dead.
