Balls to the Wall: No CC, no boundaries

Last night was the best one-third of heroic Blood Furnace that I've ever run. Why only one third? Because our guild's only ret pally, and a good RL friend of mine, needed a new libram, and the best one he can get drops off of the first boss in BF - but on heroic only. The group was as follows:

  • Me - the prot warrior
  • Qadash - everybody's favorite ret pally
  • Zigystardust - Shaman extraordinaire (currently enhancement)
  • Maevie - Doctorate in 1337 healz
  • Tryni - Stone-cold sexy enhancement shammy

As you can see, it's all melee DPS. There's no CC. But we get full benefit of Grace of Air, Windfury, Strength of Earth, Stoneskin, Healing Stream, Mana Stream, and various fire tots. We also don't have anybody in armor lighter than mail. It's an interesting group, for sure, and it turned out much much better than I thought it would. I was chain pulling like a pro, kept aggro on pretty much everything (there was an incident with an imp, where Maevie died, but that was the only death), and the mobs were going down insanely fast.

I was physically sitting next to Qadash, and he asked if I was running a damage meter. I was, and I had reset it just before the instance. Once we downed the boss, he asked me "So, did I break 500 DPS?" Well, here's the answer:

Now, for some of you BT/MH/Sunwell types out there, this may not seem like much. But we're mainly a Kara guild. Grats to these guys on the awesome DPS. I still can't believe that I kept aggro on mobs that were being beaten to a pulp so quickly. It was intense. And really fun. Having no CC to worry about breaking was actually rather freeing. Also, Maevie being the awesome healer she is, I didn't have to do much to keep myself above her threat. Thanks for the awesome run guys!

Oh, the libram didn't drop. We DE'd the crappy blue that did drop, and put the shard in the guild bank. Everybody agreed that they would be up for trying it again soon, though.

In other news, I didn't get much sleep last night (don't know why I couldn't sleep), so I got my [item]Merciless Gladiator's Plate Shoulders[/item]. I realized that I was out of [item]Holy Dust[/item], though, so I'm going to have to farm some up to get a new shoulder enchant. Or I guess I could buy them. But I'll probably farm them.

I've also discovered that PvE prot warriors are great flag carriers in Warsong Gulch. Good times!

Doctorate in 1337 healz is the best kind of Doctorate. I'd guess you'd write it as Dr. Mavie, lhD, though, since 1hD makes it sound like you like home entertainment.

The lazy caught up with me. I bought my Fel Armaments. 240g later, I have my new shoulders enchanted.

That really is insanely high DPS for an enhancement shaman. I'm tempted to think something was funky with the meter.I dunno. Try it again to verify.
