It was meant to be a wipefest

Two blogs in as many days - aren't you lucky! But in all seriousness I couldn't let last night slip by without writing about it.
With the help of one offspec and one alt we headed towards Mimi and before you accuse me of pessimism between 5-10 of the group had never seen the fight and after all it's Mimi - with four phases, countless ways to kill yourself in oneshot and not forgetting the complete pandemonium that Phase 4 is!
An hour later and the wipefest prediction was coming true, we'd conquered Phase 1 (when the melee remembered to dodge bombs!) but Phase 2 was killing us, in 6 or so tries we'd reached Phase 3 once and that was with most of the raid dead. On the plus side we were getting P1 down in 3 plasma blasts meaning that the gnome wasn't being used as a cooldown, except when the main tank died! On the down side tempers were getting a little frayed by the repeated and spectacular failings on Phase2.
After a five minute break where strats, tactics and abilities were rechecked and having realised that heat wave was efffectively not-out-rangeable, we grouped up closer to the center and our first try after the break saw an immediate improvement, although we still didn't reach P3. Release ... run ... buff ... Take two (or to be completely honest Take 7ish). Our dps warrior and rogue bit the dust in P1 but apart from that we reached P2 unscathed and then proceeded to survive P2. In P3 I had been assigned the job of range tanking the head and of taunting and eating the bomb explosions. One bomb got through when I decided to taunt the head off a dps after a ground phase and therefore was tauntless when the bomb arrived, but we survived and headed into P4.
We lost several (mainly melee) during P4 but movement from "pewpew lasers" went well and it was actually slightly less chaotic than I remember 10man Mimi being! And with smooth dps-stops and target changes he died
We backtracked to Ignis to end our evening and our raid week. I even managed to, finally, get slagpotted for my achievement!
