First steps to getting back on track

After some recruiting and engulfing some members of a 10man Ulduar guild we 25manned Ulduar last night.
Regardless of what follows it was a good night with a wipe to Kolog and one to Freya in a clear that also included Flame Leviathan, Razorscale, XT, Auri and Hodir. One of the new recruits was a prot pally and even though our tank team now consists of 2 pallys and 2 warriors, so is probably far from ideal, he slotted in really well and showed a good level of situational awareness so I'm postive we can make the lack of non-shield tanks less of a problem.
The other "newbies" had some disconnect problems and potentially showed a lack of understanding in some of their roles. But I won't go in to detail here. A potential problem is that as a guild we roll "need" or "greed" through a MasterLooter system and everyone is expected to be mature enough to limit themselves and not roll on everything after receiving loot; there were murmurs of some over-hungry rolling which will have to be sorted out.
Despite last night's success it masked a major problem in the lack of healers (sure two of our trees are on holiday atm) but in a team of 6, 2 were offspecs and crucially we are down to a single pally healer. At least most of the healer team did an awesome job and I even survived Hodir as frost tank (even if our MT didn't!)
Our Freya kill was just weird, dps seemed reasonable the rest of the night but on Hodir it collapsed, from the first set of 3 "elemental" we ran behind time clearing up the end of waves after the next had spawned; lost a few dps at the start of P2 (or end of P1) and ended up killing her a few seconds after her enrage! Loot-wise it was a light tank night with only our 6th Titanguard dropping, which defaulted to the new prot pally!
But ... momentum is good again, and despite missing some raid specs I think we can focus on healer-recruitment and hopefully make some progress on Thorim over the weekend!
