You know what I want?

A way to upgrade my trusty gryphon mount to 310% speed.
I don't collect mounts, and never have. My mounts tab has a swift white steed and a swift blue gryphon in it. It seems ridiculous to me to have a bag full of mounts. I don't care about the mount achievements. I really dislike the idea of having to get an ugly as hell proto-drake if I want the faster mount speed.
I'd really love it if instead of a new mount for every reward, we had a few options to choose from. A way to increase my gryphpn's speed would be a very welcome one.
Probably never happen, I suppose.

I also think the drakes are just awful looking, I'm not really a fan of the DK bone-chicken mounts either. More than anything I want a way to upgrade my Flight Form to 310%. I'd PvP to #1 spot if that were a reward. It's be worth it.Posted 03-03-2009 at 02:28 PM by Petninja

You could also translate this to skins on certain iconic items that we'll never see again because they are obsolete. In most heroic fantasy, which Wow endeavors to put the player in the middle of and make them the protagonist, said character usually has a favorite sword and trusty steed.
I understand the need to keep players playing by carrying the carrot out further but if there was a way to keep players in the rat race and striving for the next best thing but still able to keep the look and feel they are accustomed to......
If they can implement glyphs, they can do this. If you complete the necassary requirements to acquire a 310% mount, maybe you could trade it in for a BOP glyph...and Glyph your Griff. Or trade Last Laugh in for a glyph to put the identical stats on Thunderfury (take away the AoE effect if you like)
Eh, a pipe dream but fun to think about.Posted 03-03-2009 at 03:01 PM by Horacio

I'm with you Satrina. Most of those flyers to me look silly. The Regular old Drakes are to big and clumsy. Proto Drakes look like they just got off the short bus.
I bought the Cenarion War Hippogryph a ways back in TBC and been happy with it. I'll let all the dragon posers do their thing. I'm a popular tank for timed mount runs because I always pass on tourist stuff. I would roll on that awesome looking tiger that drops in ZG thoughPosted 03-03-2009 at 04:31 PM by Brucimus

It's funny how you can pick out all the alliance. These mounts may look silly on your small toons, but they look sooo epic for us Horde folk.
A nice compromise would definitely be a few mounts to choose from for some achievements, but then that may require some extra functionality to be injected into the achievement system.Posted 03-03-2009 at 04:51 PM by veneretio

My main is a druid so my care factor for things like Proto drakes and other forms of flying mounts is really minimal.
I enjoy collecting land mounts though and have fallen in love with the Mechnostrider. It hilarious to see a NE riding around on one of those things.Posted 03-03-2009 at 05:18 PM by VEEN

I'm with Veen... My quest for a BG mechanostrider continues. As funny as it may be to see a NE riding one, I can't wait to see how my steel-wrapped Draenai looks. I have the ram from BGs and it's hillarious - something akin to a seven foot fat guy trying to drive a Mazda Miata. Really looking forward to my shiny robo-chicken.Posted 03-03-2009 at 05:41 PM by Azadar

I always thought it would be interesting if you could gain a faction with your mount. Maybe faction is the wrong term though. The more faction you acquired the more things it could do. For example, move faster, carry a trunk for stuff, or even carry a vendor. Maybe like loyalty instead of faction or something. You could glyph your mount to be insta mount or carry a vendor position. That way your mount could be different from others and it would be applicable moderately inside of raid instances. Just food for thought.Posted 03-03-2009 at 09:03 PM by Khue

Yes, let's have something more grindeable...
How about feeding dailies for people that have one of those 22k (?) gold mammoths so the repair costs could be a little lower, or somehting silly like that...
I honestly have never noticed there was 280 and 310 speed though... But hey, I've been without fast flyers for nearly the whole of TBC and Wrath... Picking a mount will never be the same...
to Satrina: Awesome you still like the gryphon! If I my avatar wasn't a night elf (in hindsight I wanted a human but hey...) I'd be in the same boat - I love gryphons! Particularly the new armored white one...

Gotta disagree Vene, proto-drakes are terrible all the way around, and I have 2 cows... I still use the windrider on 2 of my 3 characters because all the other mounts are ugly as hell, excepting the bronze drake from CoT Strat, he doesn't look asterrible as the red one for some reason. Hell I'd love to get an allianceish gryphon, cause those are the best looking flying mounts in the game, which is pretty sad.Posted 03-04-2009 at 03:38 AM by Aldragoriad
