So my Australian Football League (AFL - otherwise know as AFKlol) team won the grand final. The "Superbowl" if you will of the AFL.

I won $5 off my Dad and we all had a jolly time. So, to all the Australians out there; GO THE HAWKS!

The game was good and the Cats put up a good fight albiet got a few goals from dubious decisions (2x50m at once WTF O.o). They had the opportunity to win it but they just didnt capitalise on the potential goals, getting behinds instead. For all of you non-cool-kids who dont know the game:

Also:

Music is a bit annoying but it gives you a rough understanding of why the game is so exciting (for me at least :p - some australians hate it)

Now, I have been listening to a lot of music since the last time i posted. Don't ask me why but I am really digging Massive Attack. For one reason only. This song:

Another song of theirs that i found is called "Teardrop". Most of you will know it as the "House MD" theme. Little do some people know, it has one of the most highly rated videos of all time! Check it out:

It seems odd that i have been listening to a lot of music and only came out with only two songs/videos to show you guys. Also that they are of the same band. Oh well. Deal with it i guess.

I have had an interesting appeal from my GM about WotLK. I know i was being all emo about not feeling happy with the game but the more i see of the changes, the more i want to mess around with them. My GM has caught me off balance and asked me to MT with him in WotLK! I of course said yes!

sXephil provides a fairly apt social commentary to a lot of issues. He also makes a lot of offensive jokes, most of the time tongue in cheek style.

Anyways. Life is still alright. i have a holiday lined up for Brisbane. With any luck i will be living there in 6 months!

WotLK, 3.0, life, music and Me

Hey all!

With 3.0 and WotLK biting my heels, the time for me to "quit" is coming soon. I use quitting as a very very loose term. I will still play on an "ultra-casual" basis, logging on to have fun but nothing more. Maybe I will just PvP.

By no means am I a "hardcore" raider in terms of time commitment (i raid 3 nights a week) but when I do raid, I am expected to perform 310% so that we can kill new bosses, clear content as fast as we can etc and it is a bit draining sometimes. Often I would find myself unable to be bothered logging on my warrior, knowing full well that people would ask me to do something, constantly until I did it or told them in explicit terms that I did not wish to do anything for the whole day and then get yelled at when I do something for myself. Call me selfish but I don't pay money to be someones tanking bitch.

I honestly don't know what is going to happen with Sunwell and 3.0. The two schools of thought are:

1. Sunwell will now be a joke and will be able to be cleared fast as and all the encounters will be retooled to be suitable to the environment.

2. Sunwell will now be rendered impossible because Blizzard retooled mechanics, gear and specs but not encounters.

I am slightly embarrassed to be a member of group 2. I just think that blizzard has been talking up and showing off all of their changes to tanks and such but I honestly haven't heard anything about them dealing with the waiting period between 3.0 and WotLK like they did with 2.0 and tBC. Call me a pessimist but whatever =/

Life is going ok. I am still a bit aggravated with my situation but it is only really like 6 months until I am out of here completely. Going to Brisbane to see Cirque Du Soleil with my cousin and its going to be awesome!

As per my previous post, I am still unhappy and I don't think that I will be much happier until I leave Darwin. I am just frustrated and don't know how I am going to last that long. I am planning to go in two thirds of a year's time. I need to get some more of my study done. In that time I am going to try get my CCNA under my belt and maybe, if I can, start working on my RHCE then RHCA.

Now, onto those absolutely freakin awesome Canadian street performers called the Cirque du Soleil (refereed to in my title as CdS cause it wouldn't fit). I am going to see them some time at the end of the year with my cousin in Brisbane! We are getting the best seats possible and all (talk about extravagant)! I honestly can't wait even though I have already seen them in Vegas!

On another totally unrelated note: Icarus and Daedalus would have to be the best story ever told and if you don't already know it, I would suggest checking it out at some point.

For those of you who don't know much about the geography of Australia, let me give you a quick rundown:

I live in Darwin. That is in the Northern Territory, on the mainland just south of the little island at the top (more or less). It is the capital city of the region. Its in the tropics so its REALLY REALLY hot and humid a lot of the time.

The NT has roughly 200,000 people in it, all of which boast about their "fantastic lifestyle". I can not begin to describe how much I despise this. It is the typical "I'm better than you" call and I can't stand it.

Anyway, my cousin just came up for 4 days and I pretty much hung around with her for the whole lot, forsaking raids (which is really the only reason that I log on WoW anymore - and that is only because i promised someone that i will be around until xpac. He might be leaving early, so if he goes, I go). It was probably the ABSOLUTE BEST 4 days I have had in a long time.

I have been thinking about moving for a long time but I was not too sure until very recently. My cousin coming up has really polarized the people here. It is irritating to see the place polarized like this. I have never really loved Darwin. I have liked it but for the past 3~ years, I have found myself exceptionally irritated and generally angry at the place. I find that I don't fit in with the people here, I never really have and I honestly don't know how I should feel.

I am 19 now, going on 20 so its no problem moving really. My parents are against me going anywhere but they always were. I need to just plan correctly, get my Uni studies transferred ahead of time or just go to external studies, maybe push for the CCNA exam (a Cisco qualification for those who don't know).

I am also debating quitting WoW. I am almost at the point where logging on is not fun at all. It is okay for when raids happen but I truly can not be bothered otherwise. I don't even care about WotLK and that is definitely not like me.

So this is one sad gnome signing off.

Humor: Ranged Taunt for warriors in sunwell

This is going to be exceptionally short and sweet as I truly CBF at the moment:

A wise warrior once said to me:
"on trash and/or bosses in sunwell, I have a ranged taunt that lasts for a long time."

I of course thought:
"Oh shit, that's awesome! What have you worked out?!?!"

Unknowingly I set the trap for the next line:
"Yeah! If a DPS pulls aggro on the wrong mob or the boss, the mob/boss will run to them, smear their faces across the floor and come running back to me. Subsequently, that person will get flamed by the raid for the rest of the night. This is the principal behind my ranged taunt."
