Right now the most complicated thing for me seems to understand all the XML stuff. Well actually I have a hard time with the LUA and the TOC as well so ... it's all hard for me.

I hope this time I can fight through the pain and finally learn this stuff.

Let me start off by saying that I have been playing RPGs of some form or another since I was fifteen. Beginning with old-school Whitewolf World of Darkness games, Dungeons & Dragons, and other table-top pen and paper dice-based systems.

In every single RPG I have ever played...all of them...regardless of what format they take, I have played the Warrior archetype regardless of what it was actually called in that game.

In no particular order, a few highlights/lowlights from past couple of days' tanking experiences...

Lows

- Heroic UP gauntlet. Tried H-UP with a decent PUG yesterday...we cruised through first 2 bosses no problem. Then gauntlet ate our lunch. Yes we stayed out of the ice on the floor. Yes I picked up every melee mob. Even tried the "reset glitch" approach. No good. Basic problem was healer going down to caster mobs. Tried various approaches to that; I tried HT's...

I wanna do amazing DPS. I don't know why, I just do. It's not that I'm tired of tanking... I love tanking, but I want to be able to push the lazier dpsers by putting up some incredibly prot dps numbers. (i.e. DPSing while prot spec in fury-ish gear)

Aaah, stupidity. Not paying attention. Lack of preparation, ignorance or just not grasping the fundamental basics of an encounter/class/spec. I hate it, with a passion.

I love the guild I am in right now. Great camaraderie, skilled players, good debates and we get shit done.

Until the encounter hinges on personal responsibility. Then stuff becomes unglued, fast. We've been plagued by having a core group of skilled players, offset with a few bad players. Unfortunately,...
