Gruul Down!

Well, after a long time of planning on my part, I managed to get the guild to put a 25-man together. The other officers unanimously elected me to be the raid leader, which meant putting everything together, figuring out a loot system, and finding a way to get everyone there and on time.

The theorycrafting behind it was easy, the execution went well, but it was getting 25 people to show up that gave us the largest problem.

We had 6 no-shows, one disconnect, and one have to leave early, so that left us with 8 puggies that we REALLY didn't want to have to bring along for our first time. Being that I was the only one who regularly pugs heroics, I basically emptied my friends list into the raid, begging them to understand that this was our first time as a guild to do Gruul, or anything else requiring more than 10 people.

It took us two hours to pull everything together before we could actually start on doing the instance, and we had to explain the entirety of the Maulgar fight to the raid, as more than 5 had never once done it, including the one warlock we had at the start, and the feral dps who had to hearth to put on some tank gear to get the Shaman add. Needless to say, there was a little wiping problem for about 4 times with Maulgar.

At this moment, a friend of mine stepped forward and really showed me what it's like to be a raid leader, and I appreciate you Werebeast if you're out there! He chewed everyone out, but not to the point of turning them off, by telling them just what we had to do to get it right. He let us know the way that he's done it, and that we could adopt that way or another, depending on circumstances.

After that, we one-shotted HKM and then went in and, after explaining the entire Gruul fight, two-shotted him. Again, and I cannot state this enough, it was the first time for anyone in the guild to see Gruul go down, and so that was something that we all celebrated the rest of the evening.

Overall, I'd say that I have a new respect for people who are chosen to be the raid leader for their guild. I think that I've been handed the reins from here on out for it, and while I'm more than a little worried about how we're going to swing this, jerry-rigging everything has never been a problem with our guild before ^_^.

I think that that about covers everything, and I hope to be able to write about our next successful 25-man by this time next week. See ya'll later =D

Even though tons of people have been downing Gruul forever, it's still a huge accomplishment when a guild rises to the challenge and does it themselves.

Congratulations and good luck in the future.
