I can heal?

Back when my paladin had holy as second specc I thought I couldnt, but now I have discovered holy priests 
2800 hps at black knight, 3200 at valkyr twins 10 hours after dinging 80 and I am still phasing out blues and my BoA chest, and half the epics I have are hit rating pieces (I have 190 hit rating in my holy gear *cough*.
Earlier this evening we wanted to do ToC 10 man and I got taken as healer with blues and a couple of epics, along with the BoA chest and weapon. I was skeptical, but it worked. Bosses didnt die as fast as with two healers (we took 3 because the others were just as skeptical as I was as to whether unbuffed 1800 spell power, 17k mana and 280 MP5 would be enough) but it worked and I got 3 huge upgrades (ok they are DPS pieces) including the healing mace from anub'arak!

It's easier for undergeared healers. All you have to do is not run oom. Especially with priests you get a very nice set of tools to regain mana. Clever usage of trinkets, fiend, pots, inner focus and hymn will see you through.
And don't forget replenishment.
Forget hps. It's a stupid way of measurement, tho. Experience is what counts. And that you get from healing the same boss over and over and over and over. In which process loot tends to happen.
So yeah, it's not unusual. But I wouldn't get cocky, tho. The other two carried you quite far.
AND FOR PETE'S SAKE, DON'T SOCKET PURE SPIRIT!
Intelligence is it where it's at. And Spellpower. Only use Spirit in blue sockets and pair it with Spellpower.
And make up your mind if you want to use Renew or not. Picking up empowered renew without improved renew is not clever.
Speccing improved healing depends on how much you use greater heal and if you run into any mana problems while doing so.
If test of faith is usefull to you depends on the role you fulfill and how often your healing target is below 50%. And even then it depends if the other healers are quicker.Posted 10-30-2009 at 12:41 AM by Mačl

Whilst initially 3200HPS sounds respectable for an undergeared healer on Twins in reality we all know that the mass aoe damage means that even if you just use POM and CoH on CD you'd do a half decent job.
I play both holy pally and holy priest and find both are great in specific rolls but even with very good gear you can get out of your depth quickly if

I want to level a priest to 80 so I can have a healer and not just a tank/dps (DK,rogue) but I can't really make it past 10 xD I get bored fast, any tips? BoA gears not a big option for me atm lol.Posted 10-30-2009 at 10:33 PM by Toushiro
