To Come Back?

Normally, I see a bunch of blogs about whether to quit or not, evil guilds, and the like, but I'm actually trying to decide whether or not to come back to the game.
A brief history of me quitting: My warrior 80 a week after WoTLK came out, and I began to raid with a new up and coming guild on my server. I was Prot at the time, and we were mostly doing 10 man Naxx while we waited on others to catch up on the gear and leveling curve. Unfortunately, we had at least 4 good tanks (Tanks are so responsible, we get to 80 before anybody else! Haha). I was mostly pushed into DPSing for our 10's, and I was OK with that. The only problem was about 3 weeks into it another raid group started forming and I was still being asked to DPS in the first group. I think I sat and stewed over this way to much, but I really wanted to tank at the time, and that is what I signed up to do. Eventually, one random day I was doing some stupid heroic with a group of guildies (I was tanking), and we just wiped and wiped and wiped for no real reason. I logged out after about the 15th wipe and never came back. I let the leadership know a few days later (after I decided I was going to quit for real) that I was done.
Fast forward to today, what? 5 months later? I'm not even sure. I'm happy not playing WoW, but every time I look at TS or my realm forums or anything WoW related, I start wishing I was playing again. It is a huge time sink, and probably a waste of money as well, but I did really enjoy the game when I played it (most of the time). I spoke with one guild I was in very long ago (early BC) who is casualish and very cool and they said they would be interested in letting me in if I did decide to come back. I think I would come back with the mindset that I would play a DPS role, which I have never honestly raided as on my warrior (I did on my warlock during much of BC).
So my question is, is the game fun for you? Do you think it would be fun for me? Am I too far behind at this point? Is it worth the time and money to play again?
I guess its really something I have to decide for myself, but anyone's opinions are appreciated.

You're never too far behind! Epics are so easy to get now. I hit 80 on my resto druid (Which was in T6 before I switched to my warrior at start of wrath), and within 3days i was in mostly epics and ready to rock. I am not up to speed with my guild members, competing in the healing meters and hopefully being a good example to others.
Regarding the game being fun, then yes it most deffinately is for me
I look forward to my raid times, and wiping in ulduar is so much fun. Its refreshing after facerolling naxx, to come up against a boss which needs working on. Remember wiping for days / weeks on a particular boss? It's like that again.
3.1 has breathed a new lease of life into the game for me, and I believe it would for you too. Dual spec's cracks the game wide open, allowing you to tank AND dps, whichever you feel like on that day.
My advice to you would be to pay for a month and then evaluate when it runs out. I'm pretty sure you will renew
Good luck!Posted 04-23-2009 at 06:38 AM by wayne

This game is completely what you make out of it yourself.
The game by itself is one thing, the people are another, and your role in the things you do; pvp, raid instance or just quest is another alltogether again.
I'm nearly monthly invited all over Europe to see the friends I play with online - I actually made some real friends during the time I played WoW.
Now, warning you. It is a huge time sink, addictive and hey, you even pay money for it. But well, you know all that. I can't make that decision for you - but I make that decision every time I agree to renew my subscription.Posted 04-23-2009 at 08:45 AM by Aethelas

Naxx was boring tbh. Ulduar is hard. The "you wanted a challange? Here it is" kind of awesome hard. I dont remember having so much fun wiping over & over again. It has everything that makes me love tanking and it requires very good teamplay, meaning that raidgroup is no longer a boost group of nubs but real, dedicated players that know how to have fun.
So, i'd say yes, it's a good time to come back but you'll need to gear up pretty fast to stand a chance in Ulduar.Posted 04-24-2009 at 03:42 AM by Fledern
