So, it's been about two weeks since 2.4 came out, and if you have read Caulle's blog post, you'll understand that <Chaos> is currently have recruiting issues, not to mention Caulle has to take about 4 weeks off to work on a book which is going to make her a lot of money. (Yay Caulle!)
Just today I turned on my computer and the first post I found on our forums was our other raid leader basically saying he was going Casual. All in all, this spells the end of <Chaos> as a raid guild, at least from my perspective.
This has all happened before for me. My first real raiding guild, <Oracle> had recruitment issues back when we were pushing Thaddius in Naxxrammas. We'd constantly extend our guild's life by recruiting undergeared people we felt were interested in raiding hardcore, but soon found out getting more than 35 online for raids was tough work. We kept it alive for as long as we could, but it only delayed the inevitable.
The next guild I joined, <Illumination> had been amongst the top ten US guilds in progression, but when our GM decided playing BC was more important than recruiting to continue clearing Naxx, more and more people left. The guild essentially was able to last into BC due to the 25 man raid limit, but even then it disbanded after a slew of members transferred off to other guilds and we were unable to replace them.
With <Chaos> our issue lies more with a lack of skill. We've been able to clear BT/Hyjal, sure, but to be honest, the encounters in there are nothing compared to the encounters in the Sunwell. Add that to the fact that we're unable to recruit anyone even remotely geared to fill out our roster since basically -every- T6 clearing guild is recruiting, and you can see how <Chaos> is in a similar position to my other guild.
From the looks of it, it's not going to last too much longer, and that's a real shame. Time will tell.
