Bend over and touch your toes!

I would just like to start by saying this is not a QQ blog post. Originally I encountered some very narrow minding thinking in the tankspot shoutbox and to say the least it annoyed me. This will be my first blog ever and its because I am bored on Friday and even more because I feel like ranting on about the Eredar Twins in Sunwell.
There has been a lot of QQ posts on the forums about how impossible this fight is and that it should be nerfed. Even with 2 guilds having killed them, people continue to scream for the nerf stick. I for one, am not a fan. Before saying anything about this encounter I want to say that I don't think it is impossible. I do however think that it has more flaws than C'thun 1.0 but it is still slightly more managable.
The first thing that comes to my mind when doing this fight is rape... It is extremely difficult with 24 random variables. Those 24 random variables are everyone else in your raid. It is a very unforgiving fight and every person in your raid is a liability. I think when you have some of the best players in the world and every one of them can think on their feet you stand a much better chance of beating this encounter. Unfortunatly as most of you may know that is never the case. More often than not most guilds have a "core group" of players and then there is everyone else. It sounds very stereo-typical and it is, but in my expierence it is more often than not, true. The problem with that on this encounter is one person making a mistake at a specific time can take 5-10 people with him. These mistakes are avoidable but you have so much damage and so much debuff management through out this fight that eventually someone will mess up and you are done. On top of annoying spells and debuffs that need to be managed I love having to tank a boss with one trinket! Oh look the tank got conflag lets burn a 2 minute CD trinket to get out of conflag so we dont wipe....30 seconds later... Oh look the tank got conflag again... yea lets just wipe now. I mean come on what are the odds... apparently pretty good. In the end my over all assesment of this fight is this. It is VERY possible to kill if you want to spend 10 hours doing it. But right now it is hardly stable, it is just another fight were bad luck in the end will eventually screw you. I do enjoy this encounter but it seems like there are way to many variables right now.
I would just like to finish by saying that I have not beaten this encounter and I don't know everything about it. Maybe later on I will find something really obvious that we are all missing and this fight will be the next shade of akama. Until then though it is what it is. I am a person who enjoys raiding, I enjoy tough encounters, but at the end of they day this fight just makes me feel like I have lost some of my pride.

Has it gotten to the point where the hardest of the hardcore marshal thier resources, take everything they can get thier hands on fully prepared and defeat every new encounter the first go? /shrug. As someone who just beat Vashj for the first time last night, I'm certainly no authority on true end-end game raiding. Heh, I dunno what else to say. | |

| | Yea it hasnt been opened very long Horacio but that doesn't change the actuall mechanics of the fight. Point is this, on those servers that it has been open on people are complaining...it is the only thing between the first and second gate and people are not making hardly any progress at all. I can say this though most progression raids or boss encounters dont take more than a week to kill. There are a few that were roadblocks though i.e. 4 horsemen and Cthun... This just seems like another fight designed to stop people from tearing through content in a matter of days. People are so used to spending 1-2 days maybe 3 learning and killing an encounter. How many times do you need to wipe before you know a fight intimately? and how many possible different strats are there for this fight? Those are really the things people are struggling with. I mean in a given night say we wipe 20 times to a boss and try 5 different strats, we are fairly certain we know exactly how every spell and debuff works... so what are we doing wrong? Thats when it gets frustrating and people start to complain. They are either missing the obvious or not so obvious but what ever the case they are not doing something right and its causing endless wipes. |
