So I pugged BT

So the other night I was on messing around with my block value set for kicks (up to around 1200 BV unbuffed and breaking 3k with trinkets and shield block)...and I see a warrior looking for more for black temple.

My initial reaction was "oh boy..." (as in this is a douzy (sp?)), but it was eventually followed by intrigue.

My state of progression is pretty interesting. I have dial-up at my house and have yet to purchase a laptop to mooch off of high speed on campus. So the only time I get to raid is when I'm at my older brother's house. I was there when I saw this pug BT forming.

I'm sitting at T4/badge/ZA loot. I've never been into T5 content and I've only done (before going into BT) up to Mag's/gruul's/ZA. I have read about people skipping into T6 instances in T4 gear though so I knew my gear was up to the task especially after the raid nerf.

So I jump into this guy's raid. We pug enough (I convince my bro the awesome resto druid who had a bit of BT experience to come too) and we end up with mostly S3/S4 geared peoples. But the 3 tanks (all warriors) are pretty equivilently geared to me.

So we're off and rolling and we assign one of the pugged wars as MT (wasn't me, I was 2nd tank usually). I'd say probably 5 people max had BT experience in the PuG and just up to Shade of Akama.

We one shot Naj (with poor execution...."Swiss Paramount is spiked....loot the spike swiss....loot it....still waiting), one shot supremus (again poor execution...melee in range during gaze getting one shotted), wipe on akama once because someone talks to him before we clear the room (even after I say "don't talk to him" on vent) then proceed to one shot him on our first true attempt.

So that's the easy stuff....then Gurtogg Bloodboil rolls around. My brother has never downed bloodboil and he was sitting next to me saying, "And that's the end of the pug. There's no way." And it turns out, the warrior who pugged this group would have made an exceptional raid leader (he prolly had experience). He had never been into BT before. And he set up a bloodboil rotation of 3 groups and practiced it before starting the encounter (after our first wipe). We end up downing BB on our second attempt (with about 3 people still alive...it was pretty epic).

Then to Teron. My bro again was thinking it was impossible. We link the flash game to the raid after our first wipe (constructs everywhere, but wiped at 17% or so). And end up downing him 2nd attempt.

Then RoS....well that's where we had to call it. I had a lot of trouble picking up agro because he just kept moving in phase 1. When phase 2 hit, we didn't have any locks or rogues up so spell shock was pretty much uninteruptable.

I ended up snagging a Shadowmoon Insignia off of BB while my bro got himself a Belt of Primal Majesty. We plan on doing more BT with this awesome other warrior (apparently he spent around 8 hours getting the group together, way to go oocoolmanoo) and many more.

Overall, I was just so excited to be in BT...seeing this content is something I've wanted to do for a long time. The way I persuaded my bro to stay for Teron attempts was by saying, "C'mon bro, I just want to hear his voice. If we do bad you can leave and I'll leave with ya. But I just wanna hear his voice....is that too much to ask?"

Who knows, maybe I'll get to see T6 before wrath afterall.

Another Uncrittable Set for wrath

Just posting this here in hopes that more people will read it, I think it will help.

http://www.tankspot.com/forums/f97/40306-starting-out-wrath-warrior-tank.html#post110763

Original intent of it was to just say what I planned on doing for wrath (the get a tabard asap and instance grind for rep idea) and it turned into another "here's a list of uncrittable gear at 80."

Note the instances you are running have to be lvl 80 instances, so rep grinding could be doable as early as level 78 depending on your group and gear.

The only difference here is that this list is attainable pre-80. Which means you can potentially have a set of naxx ready gear for when you hit 80 no matter what level of progression you are in right now....all you need is a defense trinket pre-wrath with around 30 defense rating and you're golden (I use dabiri's enigma on the list).

Included is mostly rep gear, quest gear, and a few regular instance drops.

By the way, I think this would be more suitable in the wrath transition forum, but I'm not leet enough to post it there.
