Im not tanking currently so i have no need to make a thread out of this...

Paladins fall out short with the worst possible 4 set of 225 block value AFTER ShoR (pally shield slam) for 3 seconds.

While warriors gain 20% magic reduction on shield block (Hello sarth breath easy mode here we come!) and death knights gain 10% physical reduction on antimagic shell. Both of these are far far far more useful unfortunately due to the 4 set its a gain of what mitigation off of a 1-2 hits every 6 seconds.

Insert 10k hitting boss; 2.25% damage reduction with a 50% down time so an effective 1.125% damage reduction.

Anti magic shell by comparison is around 1.11% damage reduction.

However the cookie all crumbles when you combine the effectiveness of AMS 4 set+Ice bound fortitude! giving ~50% damage reduction.

In short the 4 set protection bonus and the silly block rating libram show that the designers are not paying attention to mechanics. Which is imo very problematic!

I'd reserve your claims until you find out whether the Paladin 4p actually affects SoR or not. You may not think it will, but Glyph of Block affects the Shield Slam that uses it, so it's very possible it will.

Claims or not, I don't understand when, so far in WoTLK, every 4 piece Tank set bonus has been a survivability effect, and when Paladins, are known to have the same issues as Warriors, instead they are given a threat boost, where Paladin Threat appears to be fine as is.

Even if it does boost SoTR damage, why is Paladin 4 piece the only 4 piece that does not affect survivability (Tier 7 boosts to IBF, Shield Wall, Divine Protection, Barkskin; Tier 8 boosts to AMS, Shield Block and Survival Instincts), and instead provides a boost to the one area Paladins do not really need the value of a 4 piece set bonus to help...

Keep in mind, 50% up time of 225 Block Value is a survivability upgrade too for a class that has 100% Block up time. That being said, is it in line with what we're seeing for other classes... probably not.

Having the effect of 113 Block Value Passive, is not a horrible effect, however, is it in the same league as 8 extra seconds on Survival Instincts, 10% less physical damage from AMS and 20% less magic damage during a shield Block?

Similarly is it anywhere in the same vein as additional time on IBF, Barkskin, Divine Protection and Shield Wall?

As a 2 set bonus, this would be amazing, as a 4 piece, it's lackluster at best.

GC clarified that it does apply to the ShoR that causes it, but it's still a terrible bonus. 113 block value when I already have 2k? Block value is a terrible mitigation stack because it doesn't apply when you're stunned or knocked down or have unbalancing blow or are low on mana (no holy shield) or on magic damage or ... etc.

Maybe it should be phrased like this.

It's like getting a +18 stam gem in a gem slot that only contributes to your stats 50% of the time.

Whereas the other abilities are like 3 point talents.

I like kilts i just wish theyd use the 10 man skin and or redo the 25 man skin as it sucks too look like a shaman from t5...

The set bonus is really a complete lack luster the other setbonuses benefit ohshnap abillities paladins are the only class to get a "threat bonus" twice. It should be a mitigation bonus to the same degree on the scale of things.

Because you can save AMS, Shield block and even survival instinct duration isn't as bad as some threat/damage bonus with minimal effects.

Block value is plain bad for mitigation at 10k your looking at an average of equal to the AMS bonus however 10k is what azgalor from TBC? Not to mention DKs and warriors will be popping their abillities more or less planned to take advantage of the bonuses...

20% reduced sarth breaths? 10% less physical when your about to die? honestly its just pure rubbish from the designers...

I have a theory that one of the designers girlfriends dated a paladin...he got dumped bad ! (yes i know thats not what happens and yes i know there are quite a few designers on each section of the game but to me it seems their communication is low and implimentation is getting progressively worse...)

Then they topped it off with the awful libram of fail granting block rating which paladins simply do not need.

Librams in general are boring and uninteresting 260 damage on divine storm no matter what multipliers it gets isn't exciting or unique...

But further, the 2 set bonus is as crap as T4 set bonus: (2) Set: Increases the damage dealt by your Seal of Righteousness, Seal of Vengeance, or Seal of Blood by 10%.

Yes thats right the prot paladin 2 set bonus is REUSED and frankly is a complete rubbish true i guess the devastate bonus is as bad the runestrike bonus is pretty awesome though.

You only covered the plate wearing tanks. You forgot about the leather wearing tank.

Here are those set bonuses for Druid Tanks:
Druid T8 Feral 2P Bonus -- The periodic damage dealt by your Rake, Rip, and Lacerate abilites has a chance to cause you to enter a Clearcasting state.
Druid T8 Feral 4P Bonus -- Increases the duration of Savage Roar and Survival Instinct by 8 sec.

Its interesting that they are making Lacerate a chance to enter clearcasting. This means that druids could remove 1 point from talents to place somewhere else. 1 point!

As for the 4 pc Survival Instincts its going from lasting 20 seconds to 28 seconds, but still has a 5 minute cooldown.

Just wondering how worth these bonuses really are, but hey, a bonus is a bonus.

The druid T8 bonuses from a druid tank's perspective: Not very exciting. I'm not sure how useful Omen of Clarity is for me now. I rarely have any rage issues. But for 1 point it's a talent worth taking. Having a similar effect as the 2 set bonus doesn't do much for me. Survival Instincts has two major uses. The first is as an oh-crap button in which case it's useful life is the 4-6 seconds it takes the healer to get me back up. The second is when the kill is imminent and I can pop it as a preventive failsafe. I don't see 8 more seconds being all that helpful in either case.

Short version: I'd have no issues breaking either proposed T8 bonus for non-tier upgrades whereas I currently desire the T7 bonuses. I'm not searching for torches and pitchforks but would love to see the bonuses changed.

My kitty alter ego on the other hand is quite excited.

For me as a druid tank, the value of the T8 is going to be determined by the other loots that are available. I am currently running around in only the chest and shoulders of 25man T7, not because I can't get my hands on the other pieces, but because what I have in the head, gloves and pants slot is so much better. And I will approach the T8 in a similiar manner.

Having said that my cat is going to eagerly welcoming the T8 additions to his suit.
