This weekend I made a big decision to Main swap from my Warrior tank to play a DK tank on our Raid Team. It was quite a surprise to alot of people since they have been used to seeing me on that toon since we walked into the Outlands. I did not make the swap because I think that DKs are completely superior to warriors. I did it because I have been enjoying learning and playing a new class. And partially because we did not have a full time DK Tank on our raid team.

The DK is very versatile and fun to play. I will miss alot of the fun stuff my warrior has, the 310 mount, titles etc. Hes geared to the teeth, has a bank full of Prot and DPS gear and weapons from months of farming Naxx. My DK is not quite as geared but has had zero trouble tanking anything my warrior has done. >< Its neat-o and bit annoying at the same time lol. I can see lots of differences in the way both classes do things, but they can both do the job well. All and all, I'm excited to really get to know the class as I move into Uldar.

This was an interesting week in raiding for me. My guild cleared everything from Sunwell to ZG. Looking at my /raidinfo seemed more like a list of all the instances in the game instead of its normal 1 or 2 instance list. I was saved to Sunwell, BlackTemple, Hyjal, TK, AQ40, AQ20, MC, Ony, BWL, ZA, and Kharzan on my tank. Needless to say it was an busy week. I really enjoyed going back and seeing alot of the old boss fights I haven't seen in ages. Some of them are truly epic. If you are newer to the game and have not ran some of the older instances, this is a great time to get back there and see them. They are not very hard now, but you can imagine what it was like at level 60 trying to learn and survive these fights. While the direction Blizzard is taking with its new raid content, and it's difficulty level is understandable from a business standpoint. I will truly miss the very hard, complicated fights of the past. I hope they find a way to keep a challenge in the game for the hardcore raider other than just seeing how many places I can ride my mount through for the achievement.

My favorite Boss fights of all time are Nefarian,C'thun, Ragnoros and RoS.

Illidan down.

Words I've seen others say in triumph. Now I can as well. I honestly did not ever think I would say those words. A little less than 3 months ago my wife and I were at the point of leaving WoW. A single guild change later, into a fun, friendly, progressive guild, I am MT'ing Black Temple and llidan is dead. And, most importantly to me, we had a great time doing it with a great group of fun people. Now we can look forward to farming BT and Hyjal to gear up our guild before we start working on sunwell. =]

Raid Cancled...What to do?

Raid Canceled...What to do?

We were going to work on Vash last night, but for some reason about 4 people were not online. Basically all of our ranged DPS. So we could not go. Raid was canceled, no one wanted to do ZA or Kharz. I had mined all weekend and had my potions stocked up for the weeks raids. What do?? I was bored, so I logged out of my Warrior and sat there staring at my characters screen. I looked at my lil' gnome mage and clicked on him. I blinked around a few times, dropped a blizzard on the people in front of the Scryer bank. Hmm What to do? I did not feel like questing. I know, I switched out his T2 hat for his ZG crafted Goggles and mounted up on the Epic Mechnostrider, much better! I sat there for a bit pondering all the time spent in MC and BWL that went into his gear. A Deranai mage rode up and sat there inspecting me. I'm sure he was trying to figure out where I got all of the epics with the crappy stats. hehe.

On a whim I decided to do an AV. I used to love doing BG's when I was playing a mage full time. I qu'ed up, and went straight in. That is usually a bad sign of a turtle I thought to myself. Well it was a full blown turtle. When in a turtle, its time to make horde soup I always say. Standing up on the ridge by the cave I noticed 2 druids and a rogue sneaking up on the single Bloodelf Paladin guarding Frostwolf Graveyard. Ah-HA! Time for fun. I jumped off on the little hill and promptly threw a blizzard on the Flag. I am spec'ed full ice, but it was still a surprise to see the guards and pally freeze in the ice. Woohoo! The druids and rogue attacked, and after some crazy blinking, ice novas and an Ice block. I still live, and we got the GY. Woot! The rest of the game I was on Drawbridge duty with a few others. Mostly sheeping people or dropping blizzards on pack as they tried to cross. It was alot of fun. I would pretty much get one or two shot anytime anyone got a hold of me, but I was still having a good time. I did not receive one evil tell for being a L61 noob in AV either. What was even more surprising was that I was #12 in damage lol.

So, I just re-qued and so on and so on. I never was greifed for being a low level, never finished below half way on the overall damage list. And even ended up with almost 7k BG honor for the evening. But best of all it was really fun trying to stay alive and find a way to contribute to the game against higher level players. Hmmm maybe its time to level an alt.... =]

The "Nice" raiding guild.

Is there such a thing as a nice, fun end game raiding guild? A guild where people are positive, helpful, respectful of each other. A guild where problems are solved without insults and profanity. A guild where those with more experience and knowledge are willing to teach and pass on that information instead of making fun of, or ridiculing those with without. A guild where mistakes are analyzed and correct in a positive manner, then forgiven. A guild that is truly a team that works together for fun instead of epics. Does this type of guild exist? It just seems to me that the people in this game are increasingly becoming more and more negative and mean spirited. I really do not understand why its not possible to raid End Game and still have fun and enjoy it.
