So Today is of course reset day so its time to do the usual slog through Ulduar, Oh wait not today, Today were gunning for Thorim, ignoring all optional bosses etc.

So my first though is "Crap thats another shot at a BiS im missing (heart of iron)" then my second thought is "well at least we'll down him this time"........................

Another raid, another harrowing realisation im raiding with 5 -7 truly awesome players who have a good understanding of the game, their classes etc and 10 ish fucknig brainless idiots.

So after a while we FINALLY got the corridoor group through in time, only to have some numbskull rogue run off and pull thorim, im just walking through the frigging door, thorim jumps down one shots a few clothies, massacre ensues, the joy.

This is a boss we spent weeks wiping to, only to one shot him, and now i'm faced with the grim reality that it seems our downing of throim was a one off, and were not gonna get any real loot or DKP this week, It's not about the loot granted but (I qoute) "The PTR dungeon has already been downed so were looking at a few weeks before 3.2 comes out".

Now I don't know about the validity of this claim, but i do know that as my gear stands, I struggle versus Ulduar 25 bosses, not to the point where its hopeless, but to the point where come this mysterious next patch, everything will be toasting tauren burgers, surely if were so worried about progression, we'd concentrate on getting the slackers out, and the Raiders geared, but seems thats not the case, I dont fundementally disagree with the desicion, but tbh the officers are horrendously well geared, and while gear isnt everything, when im not even getting the chance to better my gear and am relying solely on Naxx 25 scraps and anything my (currently horribly low) DKP can rend off the more established tanks, it seems that they havent thought very much about this move and its frankly a knee jerk reaction, so what if the PTR dungeon has been downed? that probbably means its to easy and needs tuning, from PTR tp patch last time i recall was three months? (i could be wrong but it was ages) it seems to me rushing progress does exactly the opposite, forcing a raid to throw themselves at a boss that clearly isnt going to come down is silly to me, especially when you have 6 bosses we know and can decimate no problem with drops we'd all been dreaming of aquirring after the reset (i know i was) but now, no chance of a shield this week (STILL got my 35 emblem one) no chestplate (hodir) just an endless slew of Thorim wipes, Maybe im wrong, and maybe im just letting the bad night get to me, (and the resulting horde of second hand tanknig tips i got from a warlock, (seriously, whispering me mid boss is distracting) but to me the desicion was a bad one, hopefully tomorrow, we'll see aturn around of ideals and we'll go have some fun and hit thorim in a better stae of mind.

Peace out my meatshield bretheren

I have forgotten where I saw it, but somewhere I ran across a breakdown of how long each major patch has spent on the PTR. Most were 7 or 8 weeks.

I know the pain you are feeling.

Quite honestly, if you are feeling like that, either you:

    1. Do nothing

    2. Try to solve it

If you choose 1, either because you don't want to be seen as creating trouble or because you dont have solutions. Then just breath in, breath out, relax and wait until better people come.

If you choose 2, then think of a good way to approach your leader. It is difficult to keep a 25 man going, that is obvious. So do come up with solutions/ideas.

It seems there's members in the guid with different objectives. While some are happy re-killing bosses already downed for the chance at some loot others are looking to progress the guild through the raid instance.

Some raid leaders baffle me. Once you can take down the optional bosses they only take 10 minutes or less to knock out. If your group still struggles on them it's a sign you might not be ready to advance to the next boss. Either way I don't understand skipping bosses that can help gear up your raid just so you can get an extra wipe in on a progression boss.

Back in TBC I was briefly in a guild that constantly struggled getting the first boss down in Temple Keep despite spending 2-3 long nights every week attempting. When I actually got in the raid I could understand why: many of the players were not only not very good, they were poorly geared to boot. The time would have been better spent getting a couple of Kara clears in first, then moving on to TK.

Mr.Winkle, I agree. It doesn't sound like the problem here is the gear, but rather the players. I suggest getting an officer or the Raid Leader to download EnsidiaFails, an addon to see who fails. Give no DKP to failures?

The only way you'll progress is to hit your faces into Thorim until you learn how to do it. You cannot just make dumb people smarter. Post the TankSpot videos on your forums, give whatever tips you can to help, but there will be wipes to progress.

Also: Warlocks giving you tanking advice? No need for that (unless you're truly terrible, which I doubt). Kind of a jumble of thoughts and rethoughts in here, I'm quite tired.

out of the Watchers Thorim is the hardest. My guild's raids have been very inconsistent here too. 2 Weeks ago we 2 shot him and got the "Dont stand in the Lightening" achievement. Last week we literally bashed our heads against him 20+ times over two nights before we moved on to fail at Freya aswell.

I don't think you can claim Thorim as being particularly hard.

It's just one of those fights that clicks, and when it does its easy after that.

TBH it's all about survival in the arena, if the arena team can survive for 4 minutes that's it.

He's right about thorim 25 arena though, we wiped 4 evenings, then it clicked, and he dies 1st-2nd try now.
