Naxx 25 /facepalm

So today having precious little else to do in game i thought a naxx 25 would be fun.
Now the run didnt go well at all beiung honest, it was okay though i got Broken Promise, a slow but ulitmatley gorgeous tank sword and some offspec arms gear for my dps set.
But the QQ part of this tale comes from the last encounter, after a LONG LONG LOOOOOOOOONG raid wew got to KT, now i'm not particularly fussed about Wall of Terror, tbh i think either of the 2 other shields are better (i'm not a fan of shield block, it seems a waste of points) but given the MT (an arrogant waste of gear) had Baricade, I was assuming if it dropped i was sure fire to get it, and at this point any shield is an upgrade seeing as their seem to be a massive lack of shields in ulduar at accessible level to me, so after the 5 or 6th wipe (Healers werent exactly amazing from the start, but the RL/MT abilities made it all the worse) I gave up, I leave (leaving one of my guildies their, we were 4 to begin with but we fizzled out slowly) i get a tell from my guildie about 10 mins later saying they'd downed KT and sure enough Wall dropped, And apparantly Mr Raid Warning (i assume he had /rw on macro) won it, made me laugh though as tbh his gear was awesome, but it was fairly clear that was keeping him alive, I OT with a quite frankly amazing paladin tank and this guys was nothing short oif dreadful, turning his back on bosses to kite, pointining concal based bosses at clothies etc, while its naxx 25 and 99% of said content can be brute forced, it all screamed of not so much he wanted a quick kill, rather he wasnt sure of how to tank.
It was made ever more clear his lack of RL abilities when he set 4 healers on me during saph (he was one of them id like to add) after killing me twice and blaming it on me, he goes tank, assigns 5 helaers to himself and 2 raid healers and then gloats as he comes down!
I'm the kind of tank that values my skill over my gear, I'd rather tank a hardmode in blues just to see if its me or my gear thats lacking, but when you have tanks taunting you targets off you (he was using Ora2 btw) it screams of alpha male, attention seeking nonsense, as opposed to having fun.
I genuinely enjoy tanking and the thought involved with the playstyle and constantly having a gauge of how to better yourself, this kind of territorial pissing isnt why I became a tank, People are seldome looking at you in a raid anyway, their usually monitoring a CD, or checking a cast bar etc, so gloating to further draw attention to your so-called "skill" is precious little else but childish, this isnt a moan about palas btw (despite my hatred for them
rolling all my loot!!!!!!) As ive said I OT with an exceptional paladin tank and its actually a pleasure to drag adds off him, Just this particular player was a bad apple.
And btw Broken Promise is slooooooow, hits like a truck though!!!
Gn all of ya

Ignore him mate, sounds like your generic asshole. As a happy point your summary of what you value in the game puts into words what I myself value in the game =pPosted 07-04-2009 at 06:47 PM by Gordonoth

My tank crew gets boasting rights ONLY if they NEVER use taunt. In fact i make a special point of slapping down taunters. A good tank should rely on taunt only as a last measure imo. This approach has helped my team get far and praises in any guild/pug raid they tank for.Quote:but when you have tanks taunting you targets off you
On the original topic, oh yeah, KT loot seems to go for the guy with the fewest braincells always. Last night i attended (as a DK tank) a KT-only pug. I was called in as OT, i ended up tanking KT himself. Sure enough, betrayer drops and the three highest rollers are: The guy who miraculously managed do die in phase one (yes P1!), and the two guys who managed to chain iceblocks on me. Oh well, such is wow.Posted 07-05-2009 at 12:53 AM by Fledern
