Summertime

Ahh, summer time when the affliction of real life lures people away from their headsets and from progression raids. Eh, I don't actually think RL is an affliction; just miffed at the sudden stop of progression. So what happens is that I end up main-tanking trash mobs in SSC. And wow, gear makes a difference! Who knew
Two tanks down, me to hold up against the crowds.
As recruitment officer, it's an exercise in frustration to see new members not get involved at all. The ones that I didn't feel invested in, vanish, which validates my initial hesitation to trust their intentions. Or I was waiting for them to prove themselves to me and in my usual negative sentiment, they disappoint.
However, there are some new members that make it worthwhile to recruit. I took the time to get to know a guildie I didn't know very well. We talked for hours about religion, the ideas we hold with our upbringing, what sex means to us, relationships, the game, etc. Surprisingly (or maybe not), he has low self-esteem. Or maybe modesty. I can't tell. It was nice to be able to connect in other ways besides killing stuff well.
Another member bewilders me. I know that he gets very unhappy that I chide him for throwing his full-forced dps in the beginning of a pull. Usually he's silent so I was surprised to hear that he's been very vocal about his displeasure to my "holding back what he's capable of in DPS", and to a stranger in the guild. At least he knows not to complain to me. His brother told me that this member would scream at him anytime he or anyone else made a correction. Oh well, kids.
