Yey, had a good night in Ulduar. Only 2 bosses down, we had 3-4 tries on Iron Council, then I decided that I was better suited for add-tanking, and the OT better suited for Steelbreaker. Situational awareness and all that.

In general I have found Ulduar to be much more demanding on the offtank, a lot of movement, a lot of spatial awareness. Offtanking on most encounters in Ulduar (that I have tried) actually demands more from the offtank, than from the main tank.

Anyway, we proceeded to kill Iron Council first time we got Steelbreaker down - I'm not exactly sure on how to deal with the tendrils, but experimentation will have to cover that.

Then we went on to Kologarn and twoshotted him - a much easier fight than steelbreaker.

We had a couple of half-hearted tries on Auriaya, then I called it. All in all a good 2½ hours of good fun.

A new problem arose - a guildies warrior alt was caught spamming recruitment spams, I think it is about time for him to chose which guild he wants to carry on in.

    10 or 25?

Tendrils, usually as soon as he starts doing them we get people to spread out. You cant outrun them, so just take the damage and hope like hell you get healed.

I'll agree with you there, I believe that for the most part off-tanking is more demanding than main-tanking. At least in my experience. As an Off-tank in Naxx (when it was required) I felt busier than when I Main-tank in Ulduar 10. Granted we havn't ran through the instance or anything, but I've mt'd Ignis (/snooze) Razorscale (kinda fun, till the carpal tunnel starts in phase 2), XT (/snooze) and Kologarn (/snooze)

Kologarn/10 is especially a snooze fest since you don't even have to tank swap anymore.

At least when you had to you could work it where you guys took turns tanking Kolo and the rubble. By now, why would you bother.

Ulduar's interesting in that the MT/OT all need comparable gear to down certain bosses (Freya, Thorim, Razorscale, Auriaya, Hodir maybe). No more of this I'll just get carried from the OT spot and pick up fat loot (Kara especially comes to mind heh).

    This was the 10-man version.

Ty for the heads up on the tendrils

And i agree with the snoozefest on kologarn, man that was booooring to MT. I was looking for ways to make it more interesting, but since you have to be in melee range of him, theres really not much to do. The oblivion shout was pretty annoying.

Razorscale is pretty fun, imo, and if you leave an add up for rage, you can dps effectively when Razorscale is grounded, it is possible to position yourself so you can use your revenges on the boss. Excellent.

I actually welcome the Offtank with brains approach, so you can't just get carried through.
