Raid Leader/Tank Mistreating at it's finest

So, I decided to try to stick it out with the guild and posted a message of why raiding is on hold. The following is the message I posted to the guild.
"After much thought and work, I've decided that anything beyond Sartharion and Archavon is permanently on hold.
My reasoning is simple:
1.) If your name isn't Xombi or Gloedin, you haven't viewed Noth the Plaguebringer. (Exempt: Hetath, Gloedina, Vene) I posted this video for a purpose; that purpose is not being met, therefore there will be no Noth until I am convinced that tools are being used the way they need to be used.
2.) With the exception of a few, we don't have a core ready to go. We need to better organize Heroic runs. If that means people respeccing to assist with heroics, then so be it. I will gladly tank any and all heroic runs needed to. At this juncture, I'd like to see anyone not named Kassad, Neroon, and Venefictus in more heroics. Heroic gear = better gear = much simpler progression.
3.) Tight wallets. Look people, it's gold on a video game. It's easy to make. If you aren't buying consumables and enchanting gear, then we have an issue of raid attitude that I discussed in the raid requirements post. Xombi has been more than willing to drop all of his enchanting mats on doing enchants for Redux. If you don't have appropriate enchants, you haven't asked. Also, while crafted gear may be expensive, spending gold is a required evil. I'm not going to listen to excuses about why you don't have gear that you can easily purchase. Do dailies. Farm. Farming old world Strat, solely on the "Baron run", will bank you roughly 100g a run.
We will continue Sarth and Archavon solely because of the relative ease we've experienced doing them thus far.
That's all I have to say on the subject at this point. If you're going to take the time to flame this post, I would expect to see you had taken the time to sign the other posts that involve you taking time for the progression of Redux.
Let's do this right, K"
Today, I was accused of being elitist and my toons were gremoved.
Unfair? Maybe I'm just butthurt. But, you guys be the judge. Am I overreacting?
All the best, K

That's not elitist...I hate elitists....sounds like the guild was just full of fail....people in my guild are expected to constantly upgrade their gear as they are able, unenchanted gear is looked upon very badly. If they were not even willing to do heroics on their own to help improve, then I would say you are better off looking for a different team to raid with.Posted 02-24-2009 at 01:39 PM by Tatt

That's pretty harsh.
That being said, count it as a blessing. You're clearly looking for a different WoW experience than your former guild and while the next guild you find may not allow you to MT+RL... it probably will wet your raiding appetite a lot more.
What you were expecting of the guild was far from elitist by any guild that plans on raiding even a little bit. Take comfort in that fact and find yourself a better home.
Best of luck and remember it's still very, very earlier into the raiding game.Posted 02-24-2009 at 01:40 PM by veneretio

You are correct in your thinking, however, the methodology used was incorrect for your status in the guild. You can't really make decrees that aren't liked unless you're sheltered from reprisal.
The examples you used (noth) is too trivial a fight to need a video (of course this is an IMHO!) we downed him without a wipe by just smashing face and decursing while standing in the middle (nothing like the 'strat' suggested in the video.)
Baron runs don't net 100g for everyone, just as much as not every class can solo Ony. Pick an example people everyone can do. List 4-5 dailies with a bunch of alternates that have net +100g with minimal time, and doable by all classes.
Picking out individuals (good and bad) is a good way to make enemies real quick and is a definate faux pas.
However, live and learn, and maybe it was for the best - maybe you'll find a guild that's more in line with your desire to raid and raid well.Posted 02-24-2009 at 01:44 PM by Conreeaght

Valid points. Everyone has been doing baron runs with the old guild; that's why I suggested it. Literally, all 10 of the raiders were doing it in our downtime for the mount.
However, I do appreciate all the input thus far.Posted 02-24-2009 at 01:52 PM by Krazen

Holy crap! They just saved you a lot of heart break and drama by getting it over with.
This would have ended badly, if not now, then waay down the line after you've spent a lot of time and love with it.
They're jerks, and they don't deserve you, and they did you a favor. Have FUN in your next home, wherever that may be!Posted 02-24-2009 at 01:52 PM by heffalump

hmm I am a little confused. Seems like a talk with the GM might have been in order. You seemed to have over stepped your boundries a bit. (unless you made that post half expecting to be gkicked)
That said.. thank god you are not in that guild anymore. Its time for you to put your RL and MTing skills to good use.
Im willing to bet you will end up in a good place very soon and blow through content while your old guildies just sit back and go no where.Posted 02-24-2009 at 02:41 PM by hbombs

Hey...come on over to Windrunner. My guild (Swass) is recruiting, and we aren't full of asshats.
That being said, you may have overstepped your bounds, but if you were expected to run the raids, you should have a say on the group make up (gear, specs, etc.) to make sure the raid goes as smoothly as possible.Posted 02-24-2009 at 03:01 PM by SugeGnight

Oh yeah...
If you're the raid leader, you were not out of line.Posted 02-24-2009 at 03:34 PM by heffalump

It depends, it depends on why the guild was raiding and what their goals/expectations were.
I can infer from the kind of things you were harping on in your post that most of the guild was not at all serious about raiding. Those type of players will quickly put on the brakes when something isn't fairly loose and fun.
If this guild was making some kind of attempt at raiding, and people were actually showing up and expecting to down content but were sabotaging their own efforts by not preparing that's different.
Something tells me it's the former case, where it was a very slack/casual guild being lead by the nose through content they weren't particularly motivated to be in. If so, for this kind of guild your approach could not have been worse.
In any case, it sounds like you want a real raiding environment. You are probably better off the way things worked out, and so are they.Posted 02-24-2009 at 03:48 PM by kolben

Look at it this way, you can now post that your requirement of learning strats, enchanting gear, and bringing consumables to raids was what got you gkicked. That would look great on your app.

I wouldn't have pointed/used names...
Other than that, go find a guild or community that matches your expectations mate. Good luck!Posted 02-25-2009 at 12:16 AM by Aethelas

there seems to be different points of view but I think you are right mate, apart maybe you should instead say it a bit different... if you guys don't want to spend gold to enchant your gear and get consumables, I don't want to spend it paying repair bills, I think anyone here know that huge repair bills after a failed raid goes to the tank
