And the ball starts rolling...

So, a busy weekend to end a busy week.

I've been helping my group push further into Ulduar-HM, with IC(H), Thorim(H), Freya(3) and Auriaya done for achievements [I already had Kolo] and some work done on Mimi(H) which looks like a very fun fight. I also did the new 10man which is extremely easy.

There's been a bit of in-guild bitching. I got a bit of a feeling that the GM [whom I referenced in the previous blog] is somewhat annoyed with me for app'ing and now joining a 25man guild.

Epeen wise, my gear's been getting better faster than I can remember since I had a few thousand golds and newly 80. Badges are amazing for loot and I <3 them a lot. As is the new trinket from NCol5.

Cutting it short as I just got an inv to 25's tonight - which I wasn't expecting.

Shaking things up.

So, this week has been a fairly turbulent one.

Started out last Friday with one of my guild's three officers announcing that he was going to be app'ing for another guild as our times had begun to conflict with his work time - sometimes and that he wanted to do 25's [read: Loot]. We pushed on without him and had a solid week with a full night of progression [sadly, Vezax didn't go down for us and heals couldn't keep up through XT-Hard].

Pushing through to Tuesday - the GM, the only officer bar myself said she had been accepted to the same guild as the one previous 'but would still be raiding with us in 10's.'.

After two extremely mediocre nights of me [being the only officer - though not GM] trying to organise a raid on Col10->U10 and failing - I app'd myself to a U25 clearing guild. Different to the one my friends had joined as I had been told in strong HINT form - that there was dissatisfaction with the number of new applicants joining the guild and that I'd have better luck somewhere else.

So - Tonight I tried for a final time to coax some life into the guild and failed - so I did the first part of my app with the new guild. Pushed FL+4 and Ignis achievements before Servers came down for rolling restarts - which are held at a bloody stupid time right in the middle of Oceanic raiding. Sadly lag plagued the rest of the night and we failed to down XT-Hard, people lagging out in the middle of the raid with Light/Gravity. I luckily had perfect performance bar a dc clearing to FL.

I got the feeling that the RL'er was somewhat impressed with my tanking - though I hadn't tanked anything of note - and said that I would likely have a spot tomorrow when they'll push IC-Hard, Hodir-Hard, Thorim-Hard, Freya+3, Firefighter, Vezax-Hard, Yogg+1 and probably Algalon [though I think they've yet to down the last].

I'm somewhat excited - though somewhat nervous. Many of the fights have significant strat changes and I'm unsure as to what strats the guild even uses. At this point I'm not even in the guild - and thus don't have access to their forums, so it's likely that I'll get a 15second run through and be expected to cope.

Fingers crossed I don't fail.

Drama - You Suck.

I don't think I'm alone in having a low drama tolerance.

I can put up with people being idiots.
I can put up with people yelling in vent.
The only thing which makes me call raids - bar time being up - is drama.

Finding out that a solid DPS'er isn't coming because he didn't get invites last night is annoying. Especially as he wasn't on his main and I had no way of knowing that he was on an alt.

Finding out that my GL'er refuses to be partied with another DPS is more so.

Having four people [out of 8 in the raid] pst'ing me with drama type issues is simply unacceptable.

QQ moar, I cbf ORGANIZING a raid for people who want to be childish.

Hopefully people learn that I have -zero- tolerance sooner rather than later and sort their own shit out rather than expecting me to sort their stuff out.

Contentedness in raiding.

I'm in a bit of a bind, and I'm not sure how to resolve it. I think setting the scene is important, so I'll do that first.

My guild's quite new. We formed up at the beginning of May and have done ~3weeks of Ulduar making significant progress each week. Most recently, we got Hodir to 50% and I expect that we'll 2-3 shot him this week.

My raiders are solid. We're mostly two groups of RL friends plus some extras to fill the gaps. Everyone gets along pretty well [except that one dude] and the environment is generally pretty positive, pretty laidback and pretty awesome. People're geared in a strange mix of Naxx25/Ulduar10 gear with Naxx10/Heroic gear making up most of the base. Our DPS are all above 3.5k. Our heals are all solid. I'm tanking, which automatically means zero issues which I cant work on myself, though that being said I'm feeling the stagnation myself, with no regular second Tank to be pushing me, the only thing motivating me to get better is to see what silly numbers I can pull on Patchwerk this week.

The problem I'm facing is a difficult one. I've tried going about it as tactfully as possible but people're still offended. Basically, I feel people are starting to get content with their skill level, when they've got more to give. I've challenged one of our DPS, a DK named Rotinaj to improve his DPS or lose his spot. He's now able to poke fun at other DPS 'only doing 3.5k'.

I'd like to foster friendly competition for DPS, since they're grounded enough to know that countering boss ability x is more important than +2DPS, but some members are being surprisingly resistant to the idea.

I've tried talking to everyone in a 'I'm talking to everyone but would you mind doing an hour or two's research and try to figure out how you could /skill more? Thanks<3'. But I've usually got excuses rather than 'Okay, I'll see what I can do'. One of my good irl friends who plays a Disc Priest is honestly feeling pretty bad as most of our actual progress has happened on nights for whatever reason, she hasn't been able to raid [and she's had a fair number of bs reasons]. Which is just her being unfair on herself, she's helped us learn. We've finished the night with the boss nearly dead on the last attempt [ie. IC to P3 to 45%] only to 2 shot it the next night when she couldn't come.

The real reason I'm so concerned, rather than raiders being contended with their skill being zomg!bad, is that I'm very much feeling the pinch of tuning at the moment. Now days we seem to be wiping not because anyone is doing anything inherently wrong, but because we're only putting out 99.5% of what the encounter requires and that last .5% is biting us in the arse if the encounter goes on for too long. I'm trying to get a few percent buffer because I'm quite sure that things are going to get harder as we progress further into Ulduar and onto Hardmodes.

tl;dr: My raiders are getting content. Help me shake up their world and get them zomg!motivated to doing +10% output.

A lot's changed since I last Blogged.

I left my old guild to start a new one with a RL friend.
Gone from 1/14 to 7/14 [with a goodly amount of work done on Hodir] in 3 weeks.
Finally got recruitment [as of yesterday] to a point where we're going to be able to run Ulduar without PuGs.
Got a fair few upgrades over all my slots. Notably http://www.wowhead.com/?item=46174 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=45112 today.

I'm feeling good about everything WoW related [except my cash situation, but that's more because I'm being lazy]. Aiming for 9 bosses down this week, and I can see that being very achievable.

Slow week's been slow.

Lots of study and homeworks for Assignments/Tests next week, along with looking for a new flat.

I did however LAN last night with a guildie.

Missed out on the guild Naxx, so I ran with some PuGs. Sadly, in the 5hours it took them to down 4H+Sapph [and wipe a fair bit KT] I did Construct+Military+Sapph+KT.

I also farmed my SoH to Exalted and with a stroke of luck, got two Books of Glyph Mastery.

Hopefully it should put me upto enough golds to get Epic Flying finally.

So, I've been on Dreadmaul for a week now.

Last week I've:

MT'd all of Naxx10.
Did my first 25mans [Sarth+0, VoA]
Upgraded: Shoulders, Chest, Gloves, Belt to Epics and got myself a Essence of Gossamer.
HVH is being annoying with the lack of pants. I'm upto 12 runs.

I also did ~2660DPS on Patchwerk, as mentioned in my previous blog. Which, considering my gear level and ~400ms ping, is pretty decent.

Next week we're hoping to do HNaxx, I've got my fingers crossed as I want a new trinket and cape.

I've also had a lot of fun. The most so far in WotLK. :)

A fair amount's happened over the past few days.

New guild, new server. RL friend mentioned that they needed more tanks for an Oceanic based raid guild. So now I'm the MT for 10B and OT for 25mans.

So far I've cleared Construct+Sapph. I really enjoyed Thaddius.

Have already made a name for myself as a 'pro tank', which is nice considering I've been on the server less than 48hours.

Finally got some luck with drops. Essence of Gossamer replaced Moroes'. Abomination Shoulders dropped but the RL'er didn't have it on ML and a priest greeded them after not hearing 'EVERYONE PASS!' over /rw, /raid and Vent. :(

All in all, a good weekend. I'm looking forward to next week and a fresh run.

Did VH, HoL and Nexus.

4 more achievements towards the Glory of the Hero meta-achievement.

Most notably 'Timely Death' [2min kill of Loken]. Cost me 70g. I was the last person to die EVERY attempt. Some people just don't know how to gtfo the way.

Also, 1 off 50 Emblems.

Completed my first Heroic yesterday.

Since then I've:

Earned 44 Emblems of Heroism
Completed UK, Nexus, CoS, AN, DTK, VH, Occulus and UP on Heroic for the first time.
Completed 4 Glory of the Hero achievements.
Did my first Raid [Reg VoA].

Unrelated but, I also completed a Math assignment.

Tomorrow's an offday, so I'm gonna see what else I can get done. And that's not even counting this evening.

I also made friends with a really, really good healer.
