heya,

so i don't blog much (or at all). currently part of a small "friends" guild.

little background. the guild formed pre-wrath with the inital concept of being just a 10's raid guild. about 12 ppl give or take with the (approx) right mix of tanks, healers, dps. so when we we finally run raids it only benchs 1 or 2 ppl or if at all depending on the availability of ppl.

a bit more background: the original grp of friends thought to just see content in 10s coz you can see it in 10 and not have to deal with the headache of organising 25s. but apparently 10 is also as hard as the pool of players is held on a fine line of not having too much.

it worked fine for a while. a few got to 80 about a month or so before the others (about half of the guild hit 80 before the other half got even half way).

the ones who reach 80 first would run the heroics, PuG into 10s and 25s from larger guilds.

then the rest of the guild caught up an the guild started to do naxx10 on a semi regular basis.

real life does tend to rear it's ugly head and things happen to make the semi regular runs happen about once in a fortnight instead of like clockwork. ppl had to move house/home, work schedule couldn't/wouldn't align to raid schedule.

the ones who got to 80 first got a bit frustated with the frequency of cancellations (from PuGing naxx10 and naxx25 have better gear than the newly capped toons) and made moves to build the pool of players available to make the runs stick. but along the way the idea of just getting enuff for 10s got forgotten and started to aim at 25s.

the guild went on and had a big discussion at how to address the change of focus. in the end it was resolved (or so i thought) to get the focus back to 10s and find a like-minded guild to pair up with to do 25s.

we had 2 weeks of normal 10s and 1 joint 25s. then ppl got with the big eyes/small mouth with the idea of running in 25s.

so now the guild has about 7 members at most now (yep heroics and pug +5 to do naxx10). which should be fine....IF the current leadership don't have a hissy fit and just quit the game due to this little event.

so here endethe my rant/vent/rave/blog. not looking for responses. just wanted to vent/voice my feelings in a medium that let's me do so and still keep my composure (no broken computer equipment or my vocal chords sore from shouting). after all it is meant to be therapeutic to let things out than hold things in.

for myself, i'll just keep plugging along. tank PuGs. and work on my professions.

Most people would call that a dying guild, but if your leader i must say its never over, just go pug about or run some heroics, i personally do not recruit for my guild, i like to run heroics and get the people on vent to talk and chit chat while i run them, if they seem like compitent people then i ask them to join, we may lose like 1 person every 2 weeks but we are still tightly knit do to the vast talent. If you have the determination to make your guild proud then do it, if you dont then your gonna probally have to find a leader to follow . Good Luck

Having 25's have a better tier of gear is very frustrating. My last guild did this exact shift in focus after forgetting to stop letting everyone and their brother through the application process, nearly skipping initiate periods too. They got the shiny 25's loot in their eyes, and the fun small guild turned into a big Wal-Mart.

    I feel your pain.
