So this past weekend was our first ever guild run into SSC. Trash went ok, no wipes but of course a few deaths. The first giant took out most of the melee, big surprise there. Finally got to Lurker (skipped Hydross) and fished him up after a rather lengthy explanation.

First attempt, too many died to spout, which was kind of expected for me. People have to get used to it. Reading strats and watching videos is great... but it still doesn't compare to first hand experience.

Second attempt, we made it to the first transition to adds. One of the melee adds didn't get picked up and killed a couple healers before he got picked up. Lead to a wipe.

Third attempt, we made it all the way through the first transition, got the adds down... and people died as soon as Lurker came back up and started spouting. Wipeage.

Fourth attempt, about the same as third.

Overall I think we did ok... 48% on our first night of attempts. I think a lot of our raiders were happy to be there.. but also discouraged because up until this point we've never had a night of all wipes. This coming weekend is an off weekend due to too many regulars being gone or needing a break (me and wife included). I'm hoping to go back in next weekend and see improvement. Any suggestions on the Lurker fight? I've read tons of strats and I've been trying to stay in the water with him to keep from getting knocked back... but he still ends up knocking me up out of the water onto the platform. Healers were complaining about really bad LOS to others in the raid. I just don't want to see our raiders getting down... most of them are newer to raiding and haven't done three months in one 25-man trying to get the same bosses down like some of us have (ie, me).

I just sit in the water the whole time, that way spout misses me and the other water attack knocks me back into the platform. For the adds we used to have a rolling team go around the whole circle killing mobs in order, made focus firing much easier.

I used to tank him in the water the whole time. When he knocks you out of the water simply run back in. You don't have to duck under for spouts you simply just have to not move(this goes for dps also but don't tell them that)

Have healers stand on the outside of the inner ring and thats where they heal the tanks and the platform dps from. they wont get WW from there. Before you pull jump in the water and swim around all over that little area where you will tank him and make sure all healers have you in LOS. And during the fight if you get out of position just trinket or w/e till your back in a good spot. Its also fine for an OT to taunt if you lose your position.

The OT's who pick up the adds just have to be sharp. save some rage and as soon as they go live (they get to there spot on the platform but you cant hit them for about 2 seconds) they need to hit em with all they got.

REALLY IMPORTANT your ranged dps who are killing the inner ring adds first MUST NOT PULL AGGRO off the tanks. If they do they teleport all over. healers should be careful about healing people before those adds go live also.

The key is to be in the water the entire time. If you attempt to tank him standing on the boardwalk, you may get whirled out of melee range and then water-bolted into the water. This then leads to him smacking the melee group around. If your healers are bitching about LOS then its their fault and they need to find a proper place to stand to heal you. The accepted strategy is to tank him in the water, so if they don't like it they can leave the raid and quit.

For picking up the adds just queue up a HS and spam your SS key. We always focused the MT's naga first.
